Invisible Palm (revisited)

Postby Dirty Davey » Nov 7th, '06, 11:30

Ok guys, here's my variation on the Invisiable Palm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krl6d-KJ6bc

I'm interested to know what you guys think of my reveal. I've tried it out once in the pub and got the best reaction I've ever had from an Invisible Palm but am still unsure about the reveal. I like the way that it's very visual but I also think that it's very risky.

Any feed back would be great.

Your move to make the invisible card visible reveals the secret of it :(
because everyone can see that you are just moving the card of the top to the side, use the old method of laying down the invisible card instead ;)
and for the cleanup i like that idea :)

1. i think you need to work on your handling, you need to make the handling of the cards look much more natural.
2. as said above, use the classic method of simply placing your hand over the card to reveal the second card. it has much more of an effect. the way your doing it now does not look as good, and clearly revealsthe secret.
3. in another topic you say it's risky. how is this way of cleaning up risky :? i use this all the time, but i shuffle the deck with patter saying im trying to shuffle it to the top.

Cheers guys that's the exact sort of feedback that I was after. I was worried it looks too obvious. But had been told by a couple of spectators who had seen me do both, that the 'risky' version looked better but they couldn't figure out either method.

It's not the finish that I said was risky, it's that reveal that you've both picked up on that's the risky part.

It's just somthing that I've been playing with, good to get feedback.

I fully agree. Jazz it up all you want, but keep the original card placement.

For some reason that video reminded me of the David Copperfield parody. (no offense)

I sent you a PM with a recommendation from a Bill Malone dvd. Let me know what you think!

This was touched on above, but I think that when you use the original handling, there's an element of surprise, and it seems as though the card is actually materializing.

With your current method it almost seems like a transposition...card vanishes from hand and reappears in the packet, rather than card is turned into a state of invisibility and rematerializes on the table when you need it.

Thanks for all the feedback, all constructive. Ankh, thanks for the PM, I really like that idea, will give it a try.

I think I will use the reveal suggested by Ankh for the first 2 reveals and then try something totally different for the finish. Fireshower, I think you're right my reveal does look more like a transposition, which has now given me the idea for a totally different finish, which I hope will throw the spectator right off guard.

I'm just playing with ideas here really, still performing the old classic method in public at the moment.
