They improve your card handling tenfold!
Also, they are great fun to do in your spare time! :D

I think the only flourish I almost always do in my routines, especially ACR, is the card piroutte. Just something fancy :). Oh, and also the Hot Shot Cut but that's more of a card revelation.

So true mate, from learning flourishes my card handling is much better than I ever imagined, it also makes learning magic tricks easier as you know the names of grips and things used in magic.

The card pirouette is something that I over use, it is very flashy. :P

But what I'm saying is that you combine the magic with the flourishes to create a unique mix.
I'm sure what is running through most non flourishers heads is, "Begin with ACR, apparently lose card in the middle, do some fancy flourish, and then reveal it on top". I really don't see this as combining Magic with Flourishes because doing it in this manner is a very bad mix.

My main inspiration of combining Magic and Flourishes is from Dan and Dave. Those of you who have seen their work, their magic is unique and their own which fits their flourishy style.

For example, the "Molecule 2" flourish. On its own its just a flourish, combine it with Magic and then you have something unique. Take a look at this clip from their site.

Honestly, first time I saw it, my jaw was in my lap. Imagine that to the spectators.

Have a look at some more, but keep in mind that these clips are over 2 years old, just you wait until their new 3 DVD set comes out, or buy the limited edition of Sleightly Magicial.
