As far as "snob" boards are concerned I believe the only two major ones would have to be that green icky place with all the wannabes and the antique yellow place with that oriental oil lamp logo... neither of which seem to get the kind of quality or "opened" conversation we find here. In fact we have very few problems when it comes to persons who wish to prove they have an IQ quotent smaller than their shoe size or even heated debates over dead horse issues that some wish to continue to beat into the ground for the next mellennia or longer.

I guess, when you add it all up, we are a bit elitest, but for the right reasons not because we're smug and think our stuff don't stink.

Indeed this forum is better than others.

I come here 4-5 times a day.

And BTW as you have said, what's the qualification to get into the restricted area.

And what's there that its restricted?

the thing to remember with the restricted areas is that you will only get out of it what you put in...there's no revelations in there...

apart from that instant hypnosis finger click thing

nah...its not a holy grail, you wont learn free sleights or anything like that...its just a place where you can discuss things with people a bit more and help each other out with ideas and stuff like that...

yeah, its a good place here, i've learnt alot, tried to help in return with what experience and thoughts i have...

i nearly replied to this post last night on the train home after a bit of boozing and via the power of WAP, thankfully for you lot, i didnt...instead i rubbed my belly and ate a bag of crisps...

elitist? hmm dunno i about that one...i think its just people being passionate about what they believe, which is a good think...plus its hard to imply your intent purely in words sometimes, what might sound harsh or spiteful might not be the intent...

Do we have a sense of the participation rate?

The Cafe put me off a bit with the whole Looch debacle. I love this forum!

This is without doubt the best of all the magic forums out there. Noone suffers from what I call FORUMITIS where older members of the boards needlessy attack newcomers. Everyone is friendly and knowledgable and they are willing to share with those who can demonstrate that they truly love our art form and are not just after secrets.

TBH I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else for magic talk!

The cafe's philosophy is who can kiss butt better in the world... and of course, if you don't kiss up with jabba the f*&( that runs the site, you get ousted. His hobby seems to be ousting those that are involved in the Bizarre and Psychic side of magick who do not practice it like some two-bit magic trick adn strive for greater realism... then again, he's so Republican in his point of view I swear he has a Pat Robertson wrist watch.
