Outsider Help...be careful :)

Postby dark-side » Nov 8th, '06, 00:10

I had an interesting few days last week when asking for help from the "Wild About Britain" forum about the use of small animals in magic.

Rather than a complain or suggestion to do this, I would just like to say that it was an eye opener to how well received "some" people receive us magicians.

Unfortunately some of the posts have been moved or deleted, but you can get the gist of it at:

http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/forums/insects-invertebrates/6452-small-grim-controllable-can-you-help.html

More than anything else, I found this whole experience humorous.

(nb... before anyone comments, I would just like to say that I learnt my lesson :) )

I feel retarded just for spending about 30 minutes+ reading every single post and thinking "Is he really that niaeve *spelling for niaeve might be off*"...

Oh my...don't use insects for tricks!!!

I thought you made it pretty clear that you are not going to hurt them and wanted advice on how to properly do so...not to have people throw sh...tty comments at you.

You know while i do not feel that some of those people were at justice to say some of those things, i will not focus on that. Some of those guys were very nice and i respect how much they respected you and your concern for the safety of the things they loved. So i respect those guys and dont think i should bash on those who had strong belief behind their views.

They seem to think they can measure the distress caused to a maggot used as a prop in an effect in terms of human consciousness. That's anthropomorphism gone mad!

My word. Don't people get extraordinarilly exercised about the strangest things.

Thank goodness we don't get so wrapped up in things on this forum, or do we............

Go to a pet shop that supplies food-insects for reptiles, amphibians, spiders etc. Swarm insects are especially easy to handle because they have no fear and won't bother trying to get away from you. Morally, whatever you do to them has to be better than being digested alive.
