Need Rubberband Help!!!

Postby mich101 » Nov 4th, '05, 09:35

I have been looking for the past 5 hours how to do the "linked rubber band" trick or any "advanced" rubber band trick. I've mastered the "rubber band penetration" and the "rubber band restoration". Now I'm looking to add on to my repertoire. Does anyone know if there is ANY FREE RESSOURCES on the net, forum or whatever that would provide some instructions on how to perform any advanced (not the jumping rubber band tricks ;), especially the LINKED RUBBER BAND TRICK!!!!

Thankx for your help,

A sorta desperate magician here,

Mike

Sort of desperate or sort of "cheap" lol. serously if you want good sourses of magic I'm afraid your going to need to pay. For rubber band magic dan harlans series is probably the way to go.

If you do find any free resourses you are going to only get a very basic understanding of how these tricks work. And like chinese wispers you may not end up getting the best way.

Also you wont be getting the most important part which is how to actually perform the effect. And lots of other subtleties which make it real magic (entertaining for the spectator).

Also pretty bad form to come onto a forum (where people are dedicating themselves to helping each other, while preserving magics integrity) and just ask for secrets. You wont get any respect for that.

I'm new here myself, have a look round post an introduction. Learn what it is to actually be a magician and not just someone who does tricks.

Sorry if this seems a little unfair, but it's the way this works. And it works well.

Keymaster has summed it all up very nicely - freebies aren't really recommended as very often they are pirate copies/versions/ripoffs of someone else's intellectual property. Most rubber band effects are available for very reasonable sums on DVD/Video or in books and, if you're serious about learning magic, are well worth the investment.

Thanks all for the tips. It's my mistake asking for who to do the trick. Stupid me  .

Take care,

Mich

One personal thought, which obviously you don´t have to agree with me lol. Dan Harlan and Joe Rindfleish videos on rubberband magic are great and I learned a lot with them, but I don´t use their methods as they teach them because they are extremly dirty and un-natural.
The linking rubberband "setup" requieres a very weird action which has to be "masked" using A LOOOOTTTT of misdirection which is not posible with some * spectators burning our hands.
So those videos, I guess, has to be used as a guide or as a challenge to modify those techniques in order to come up with cleaner methods.
I have several heart attacks when I see a magician moving his hands very fast to get into a position without no justification at all. It is a ugly thing to see.

Just I thought. What do you think?

I don't see anything against "scratching" up old threads, rather than making a new thread every time an old subject arises, true? :)

On magicbox.uk.com there is a rubber band routine called elastic gymnastics which has a few nice interesting ideas.
it is quite cheap and an instant download.

Not earth shattering stuff but quite a nice little self contained routine that can be done as long as you have some bands round your wrist like I have all the time

There is an excellent trick where the chosen card is "lost" in the deck and a rubber band is wrapped around the deck. The performer slides his hand between the top of the deck and the rubber bands. At a given moment the chosen card appears ontop of the hand. Can anyone tell me what it is called, who devised it and where can it be found?

I forget who he credits for the original version done on the performers hand, however, James Brown has a version performed on the spectators hand on his pot of jam dvd. I believe it's called "band up"

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh
