Hi everyone,

I started getting into coin magic recently but nearly all explanations I find, be it in literature or videos, generally talks about half-dollars, dimes, etc.
I'm not exactly an expert on American coins, though generally I seem able to find some British coins that work for certain sleights. Nevertheless, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on what Pound (or indeed Euro) coins you use "as a half-dollar", "dime", "quarter" etc.

That's rather a silly question - compare coins at a bureau de change!!

Not a silly question and BdC don't generally carry coins.

A Half-Dollar is about the size of a 50p or £2 coin.

A quarter is about the size of a 10p IIRC.

A dime is about the size of a 1p.

maybe not but every coin magic book I have starts by showing the size of the coins represented by a circle of same size..... thought this was in em all sorry!

secondly, apologies if this really is a silly question (you tell me!). Maybe I've just been unlucky, but I've been trying in vain to find 1:1 pictures of coins or something along those lines, so I thought I just ask here. Sorry!

Sorry, wasn't having a go I just thought through my own experience that thee coin gauges were in all coin books but as I only have 2 books on coins I guess it's a sweeping statement!! Good luck with your coin magic!

I tried finding half dollar here in Europe.. but change bureau's don't carry coins

I still had some quarters from my vacation to the US last summer.. but I'd still love to have some half dollars.. the sound is so much "fuller" than quarters in my opinion..
