Decisions-Mozique

Sounds interesting...
Seems similar to something Derren Brown did in the last series-

'From the creative mind of Mozique comes "Decisions." An incredibly organic looking test of precognition. A simple yet unbelievable demonstration of predicting your spectators actions! Using two cards one with the word NO and the other with the word YES hand written on the face, you set your spectator some simple challenges. No matter which way your spectator decides to go you are always able to correctly predict the outcome.

Includes routines by Mozique, Peter Nardi, Looch & Simon Grant.'

But it's not out 'til December....Unlikely to get reviews until then really.

Steve Dela was raving about it on the MagicWoods forums but he has a pre-release copy because he's supposed to be providing a routine for the finished product, so he's not exactly neutral.

Without having seen it or knowing what the method is I'd have two concerns:
1) Can the gimmick be examined? I'm highly doubtful from the description, but Steve claims it can - before and after.
2)How long is the gimmick going to last? If it's going into pockets/down on tables and picked up from tables then you'd have to think it's going to have a finite lifetime. You don't want to be shelling out £20 for replacement gimmicks that often (not unless you're a pro anyway).

If those concerns turn out to be non-issues then I'm in, but I think pre-ordering is risky.

I had a cursory glimpse at this last night as a fellow magi has got his hands on an advance copy. The gimmick looks well made and should last a while but I'm not sure if it's worth the 20 quid. It's what you make of it I suppose. In terms of examinability, hmm. You could have a routine where the spec examined the cards before and after easily enough but you'd have to dump the gimmick at some point as the gaff itself isn't examinable as far as I can see.

Yes, when questioned a bit further about it Steve did mention a switch was necessary (I wish people would be more honest about this when they're selling to magicians). When discussing whether it's worth £20 I'm not as dismissive. I'm pretty sure I don't have the skills to make it, and even if I did it would definitely take more than £20-worth of my time (and materials I guess) to do it. Provided you don't need replacements every five minutes then it could be a good buy depending on the strength of the effects possible.

I'm leaning towards shelling out, but I want to see it in action first. I think if you're going to offer pre-ordering there should always be a discount because you're asking the buyer to put their faith in you. There's a bigger risk.
