3D pavement drawings are a magic of their own!

Postby gunnarkr » Nov 17th, '06, 15:53

I came across those pictures of pavement drawings, made in 3D with coloured chalk. They are amazing and a true magic of their own. It's also a lot of fun to see the two that are taken from a wrong angle, because those drawings only work from one angle.

The artist is Julian Beever. I don't know for sure, but I think he's Belgian, but he has drawn on pavements in the UK, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, the USA and Australia.

I hope you enjoy as much as I!

He IS famous!

He's been around for ages, I've actually seen his work.

So famous he's even been on TV (BBC) and has his own entry on the Wikipedia!!!

There are some clever (and new!) images in that selection above - I wonder how long it takes to do them and how long they last? Many of the pavement artists I've seen draw on cloth or canvas and stretch that out in the street to save having to re-do them.

I got all of these in an email a while back and still think they're amazing. The two aren't from the wrong angle [well, he knew that] its just to show you how long and big they really are.
