@Kolisar: Actually I'm not looking for impromptu magic tricks, impromptu means doing something suddenly without preparations.
I'm looking for gimmickless tricks, that may or may not be done suddenly like the out of this world or chance zero trick, they cannot be done impromptly as they require a setup (although no gimmicks are involved) that cannot be done in front of spectators but they hit the audience hard.

Atomo wrote:For really strong gimmickless effects i would recommend the Cultural Exchange DVD's. Shoot and Apollo offer some really dynamic thinking on coins and cards, and none of the effects use gimmicks.

Shoot and Apollo : Cultural Xchange 1&2- i cant recommend them enough

Will keep that in mind.

Thanks for the tip.

And also thanks again to all people who helped.

Amazing memory test as found in 13 steps to mentalism by Corinda (other methods available)

remember 30 items chosen by audience in a random order also chosen by audience. Can be taken to 40, 50.... and allows other memory feat possiblities.

difficulty 3/10 takes time to learn
rating 10
set up. NONE and NO props, not even a pack of cards. Just bring your brain!!!!!

Fully agree connor, except for one bit - given how your audience will not likely be able to match you memory wise, a pen and a piece of paper helps for them to keep track  :D.

for yer general purpose magic, and you have twenty quid laying around - i'd actually recommend a dvd "Act of Astonishment"...

i've had it for about 4 days, and i must admit i am very impressed by it...

i've not got the books, but i hear they are very worth while...

the dvd is all gimmickless, and you even learn how to make a very nice "thing" out of your card case that has many, many uses...

i occasionally learn better visually - so I'm very glad i got this, as i could see myself struggling a little with a written explanation of some of these effects...

oh and the Karl Fulves book best for card work is "My Best Self-Working Card Magic"...i think i reviewed it on here somewhere actually...seven of your earth pounds...

I would like to add

Trick: coins across (my routine uses only 4 coins)
Difficulty: 4: three sleights and a lot of timing
Rating: 9: a very visual and aural effect.
Setup: No set up needed.

The spectators hear and see each coin pass from the left hand to the right hand. No extra coin, no gimmick, no set up. I have done this with coins from all over the world. I usually use US sliver Kennedy halves or half crown coins.

I second anyone who says the amazing memory test! It is always great to know an effect where you need to carry nothing on you.

Thanks again.
