Now when Iam sitting in a break in school I often have a friend or 2 with me. And I have cards in my pocket and of course I have trained a certan trick, But,,,,, I dont know how to introduce the cards in a nice way. Now firstly Iam not nervous, at least not more,, but the moment from 1 thing to the other, when showing a trick, the glitch there,,, You use some line of a kind,, Like: "i wanna show you things with cards....."

Just that I get a normal start.

how about not saying a word?

just start doing some flourishes or a nice visual colour change as if you are just amusing yourself...they're bound to ask "hey! how you doing that?"

and go on from there...

or just ask "can i ask a favour? sign this card for me please.."

if you act like they're doing you a favour, there's no competitive element to it all...no tension, just entertainment....my thoughts at least!

Usually I don't mention it and wait for someone else to broach the topic. Or, one day, I might mention a piece of card magic I've been working on (even if I've known it for years). Then the next day I might say something like "Ooh, do you want to see that card effect I was telling you about yesterday? I've got my cards with me today" - or whatever. Usually they'll say yes, and it gets the others there interested too.

Alternatively you could just say that you've got something you've been working on and would like feedback. That way they feel more involved - you're not just showing them a trick, you're asking them to help you with it, in some small way. There's an important difference there I feel.

But the best option is wait until someone asks I feel. That way you know they are properly interested.

i used to start by shuffling the cards and asking for a game of cards! (we used to play Gin Rummy and Rummy) and then as we are playing i would do a small amount (as much as i could) florishs, after the game they would normally ask to see a trick, and wham Blam Stawbery Jam i was showing of the tricks!

Here's an effective way to build a crowd:

1. Walk around doing a coin roll.
2. When someone asks you how you do that, vanish the coin.
3. By now, that someone has called his friends over and you whip out your cards.

I use this approach a lot when I want to get a crowd going.

I practice the shapeshifter when I'm bored in school, that and just some simple DL tricks. Generally someone sees it and asks me to show them how. Try to find a trick that is simple and quick but has a good reaction, like asking someone to pick a card, doing a pass and then a snap change. That will incite him/her to say "OMG look at this"
