Out of Order by Angelo Carbone

Postby SharkTrager » Dec 19th, '03, 03:00

The Effect

Four bicycle cards are unmistakably riveted together at their base in a four card spread. Their backs alternate red blue red blue and their faces are clearly in order for example 5,6,7,8. They can all turn around but cannot possibly change order because of the rivet holding them together. Before the spectators eyes you turn the cards so that they have all changed places. Impossible! Then you change them back! And you can keep on going as long as you want. You hand the cards to the spec and there is no possible way for them to understand because in their hands they cannot change places. I mean what do you expect, they're rivetted together!

Review

I can't praise Out of Order enough. It may not really sound so good on paper but when I first saw this done I just had to buy it because there is no possible way for these cards to change places without some kind of switch. But there is no switch. What I love about this trick is that Angelo Carbone has created something elegantly simple that you can carry around easily in your pocket. There are no weird moves, it's self-working, the spec can clearly see what you're doing, and they can examine the cards at the end. It's the perfect walk around card trick that's just that little bit different from the regular ones, namely because the cards are pinned together.

Overall :D

You can't go wrong with this. It's a lovely effect, clean and simple with no fear of anyone working this out. Let those spectators burn your hands, it won't matter. Out of Order is easy to do and there are plenty of different storylines you can use if indeed you want to use any. The effect on it's own is just fine. The instructions, for a trick this price, are fantastic with full performing ideas and suggestions as well as ideas from other magicians. You'll be playing with this all day and fooling yourself. And did I mention the price - it's a bargain!! Out of Order is a little gem and you should go get it. You'll love the trick and the method.

10/10

Why is it only for sale at this one shop?

Good question.

Apparently it's also available at Presto Magic in UK but I don't have the URL and in the US it's going to be available at Tannens in New York and Hank Lee. I think that originally this was only available from the maker direct so it's probably slower getting to the dealers.

It looks frighteningly similar.

Yes this is the same effect however Out of Order by Angelo Carbone is a totally original effect by him and many many people have tried to rip it off. There was a huge fracas at the Magic Circle regarding ownership of the effect but Angelo won out.

This ebay copy is most definitely the same effect, but not on bicycle stock and will not come with the excellent extended instructions thoughts and ideas that it normally does.

I could sell my own version of anything on ebay if I've already found out the secret. Don't pander to these people. Honour the originator.

Shark, this was one of the effects I used to dem for Jeremy and Cheryl. I let them know when I saw the cheap copies appear on Ebay and perhaps they got Angelo to chase the offender up and stop selling it.

For those who do not have it, I would give it 10 out of 10. Get in touch with Practical Magic and get it. You won't be dissapointed.

Out of Order

Postby bradderz123 » Jul 17th, '10, 12:01

I must walk around with my eyes shut. It seems this is the most copied trick in the book yet I've only just seen it.

Certainly seems to validate that "the old ones are the best" - still available at 'Practical Magic' for £15.

I love this but only learned of it, and the supremely creative Carbone, following a recent Genii article - how do those of us that are relatively new to magic learn about such gems more frequently - what other excellent magic tricks are out there that I don't know about because of the tendency to only advertise the new?

Just thought I'd flag this up for those like me that missed it the 'first time around'.
