Card on celing

Postby johntheblob » Nov 13th, '06, 02:47

Well, I recently purchased a tub of W** (The Michael Ammar kind) and have focussed my efforts on card on ceiling. I have all of the little nuances and whatnot down pat, but I cant get the toss right. I havent successfully landed a card on the ceiling yet, and I was wondering if any gents could help me out suggesting a way of tossing the deck for maximum effect. Sorry if this is exposure, I just throw like a girl!

I'll hold off of jokes about tossing. If this is the sort of advice your looking for I remember something about putting spin on the deck.

I am not sure how "throwing like a girl" would effect this trick. The motion I have used (and have seen many others use, with the deck in a rubberband) is an upward motion like you are juggling clubs with a wrist flick as if you were throwning a frisbee. L&L Publishing has a DVD on the effect http://www.llpub.com/zenshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2349&zenid=24cea0695cede7f9d81b55f4ccca4bc3 and Michael Ammar teaches it on Easy to Master Card Miracles http://www.llpub.com/zenshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1706&zenid=24cea0695cede7f9d81b55f4ccca4bc3. NOTE: These are the L&L publishing links, not necessarily the best prices.

I use a rubberband as well, but just cant get it right. I guess I'll consider everyones advice, and just practicing until I get the right effect. I hadnt been trying the spin at all though. Just a straight upward throw. Thanks for the advice guys!

Definitely spin the deck. This has the gyroscopic effect of keeping the deck level with respect to the ceiling (assuming you are not using a flat ceiling - it's a great deal harder if it isn't.. believe me!) and thus increasing the chances of success greatly. Hold the deck as if you were throwing a single card - index finger at outer left corner, thumb on top and other fingers supporting. I find that the thumb on top also serves as cover for the secret. With the supporting fingers throw it upwards, and with the index finger 'flick' it causing it to spin.

Yup - use a good size ball of w*x (a small pea sized amount), and your arm throws upwards whilst your wrist spins the deck anti-clockwise (presuming you are throwing with your left hand) - you want to launch the deck as level as possible and give it a big old spin so it stays in that plane when it hits the ceiling.

Failing that, toss harder

If for some reason you can't develop a good throw, which I am sure you will, just do a card on the wall effect. You don't even need to use the elastic band for this, but I still would. It prevents you from having to play 51 pick-up  .
