I always get

Spec: So, Are you in the magic circle?
Me: No
Spec: Why not?

I then either have to ignore the comment or go into the process of how to get into the magic circle.

I once used the line 'No, I'm not in the magic circle, I am part of Sceptre—we actually are bigger than the magic circle, and far more secretive. That's why you've never heard of us'.

"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members..." Groucho Marx...

someone asked me where i studied my martial arts and who was my sensei after i did some suggestion work and based it around "chi energy"...

and when i saw them again a week later they said "ooh please come down to my dojo, my master wants to meet with you"...

i've had someone else leave the room and refused to be in the same one as me for an hour or so...and it wasnt due to bad breath or wind thankfully...

and just the eternal "how d'ya do that?" ...i usually ignore it, but occasionally just look puzzled at them and say "what are you talking about?!how did i do what?" and act as if i haven't done anything yet...

not cos it achieves much, but it stops them asking again...

My favourite spek comment was my first "that was amazing". It was an incredible confidence boost.

Another one, after a bit of bad misdirection, was "I saw you do something there". I replied "Yes, you got me, after you shuffled the cards and randomly put them in two piles, I reordered all 52 into red and black in half a second." This was followed by "I didn't ... " and the above quote from an onlooker. Double boost.

How about 'No, I'm not in the Magic Circle, I'm in the Magic Sphere. We're a little less two dimensional.'

Thats excellent!!

and the thing that i find funny is when someone pics a picture card out the pack, I give them a pen to sign it saying:

would you please sign the face of the card.

next thing i know there trying to write their signature on the king of hearts face!

true story.

If someone ask me if im in the magic circle, i either say: 'No, not yet anyway' or 'No, its a circle of trust and you see this face? Apparently its not trustworthy *glares at sepc*'.

One of my favourites is:

Spec: Do that again!
Me: No, good magicians dont repeat their tricks.
Spec: Well do it again then!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

Why do you think a spec asks you if you're in the Magic Circle?

Is is because they have enjoyed your performance and think that you are skilled so MUST be a member?

Is the reply of "No" just shattering their impression of how good they thought you were?

Does it really do any harm to answer with a "yes", even if it's a white lie?

my only time i had some one really question me was after i did a mail bag escape coupled with a count of montie christo escape,

Spec- Wow thats amazing , could you break in to the bank vault?

Me (in mind)- hmmm i wonder,

Me (to spec) - cant break in i can only break out,

Spec - so if you was locked in a bank you could break out, with all the cash?

me-(in mind) - ok this guy dont get it, hmmm

me-(to spec)- yeah but if the cops got me that would send me to a special escapoligist prison where all there is only one lock on the whole place but its 100 metres high and surrounded in barbed wire

spec- OMG where is it???

*at this point i do a spectacular magic trick and vanish at about 30 mph

PCWIZME thats me!!

Need a prop? have an idea for a trick but cant work it out? Ask me via PM and ill have a look for you

I don't personally think so, if it's for the sake of entertainment. The answers I usually give are, "Amongst other things" and "I might be", which only imply meaning.

My new all-time favourite spec comment came tonight -

Me: Have you ever had your palm read?

Sexy female spec: Well I did once. It was at the seaside with one of those old ladies, but I think she was just after my money.

Out of the mouths of babes (so to speak)...

My Favorite (only happened once)

After doing Passing Thru but before the bottle is passed out

Spectator: "There is a slit in the bottle!"

Me: "Sir, I believe I borrowed this bottle from you."

I got one, with the card in pocket trick.

Spec: She looked right at me, and asked: Holy cr*p! Did you see that?!

Me: Nope, I heard it. (Mind): Not appropriate for these forums LOL
