Ellusionist order, M5 or PK Ring

Postby XTTX » Nov 27th, '06, 23:42

Well, I didn't post this in the review for either of them because I thought it would be more appropriate to ask here. About to spend a wad of my cash at ellusionist to take advantage of their free shipping (and the contest.) Wondering If I should go with the PK Ring or the M5. Pricewise, the PK ring is much better, but the M5 is also very tempting with it's multitude of "extras"

Edit: Darn CUPS. I'll post an attachment of what I'm planning on getting (and stuff I'm not sure about.)

Few Questions
Should I get Third Degree Burn if I am in highschool (not that many smokers)

I honestly think if you buy the PK ring for PK work, you will be disappointed. I know some people disagree, but there we go. The PK ring is great - I wear/use it regularly - but to my mind many of its uses are not actually in psychokenesis, they are in coin effects (especially coin thru bottle, which is a walk in the park with the right coins!), stopping watches and also a massive number of mentalism applications if you put some thought into shimmed cards/billets. You can use it for PK stuff, but it is very much a matter of gentle rocks, slight shuffles along the table, balanced objects starting to spin very slowly etc.

If you are a great mentalism/PK showman, and you can convince people and build hype and expectation to the level where a spoon starting to spin whilst balanced on the tip of another spoon is truly astounding, then go for it!

However, the m5 (or better still, megabertha) will give the sort of effects that speak for themselves - coins standing up on tables or rolling over in people's hands, things moving under a glass etc. plus several options for vanishes.

Both are great items, but the applications really are different so I would recommend basing your decision on which area you'd like to go into more at the moment - or better still, buy both!

I would like to buy both, but as you can see I could possibly be over $400 at this point. I've maximized my "shopping list" to get as many contest entries and free shippings as I could (that sounded so geeky lol.)

Edit: Also do you think I bought too many decks? I count 29. Grrr I also forgot to include Warp One in my orders, NOOO my plan is ruined :(.

Edit 2: Actually I had it included, but my numbering was off because I deleted an item before and forgot to revise the order list (I don't normally do this type of stuff :P)

Edit 3: Forgot to explain what "questionable" means; basically I don't know If I REALLY want to buy the item.. Also "Total w/ ?" means the total with the questionable items. Also note that Order 5 is highlighted in red, but I'm only not sure about Indescent.

Ended up purchasing the following:
Order 1 - Brick of Masters Decks + 3 Ghost Decks = $60.92 (they charged $6 shipping for some reason)
Order 2 - Masters Card Guard + Sinful + 1 Ghost Deck = $51.44
Order 3 - Stigmata + Warp One = $53.45
Order 4 - Kaos + MindBender + 1 Ghost Deck = $53.44

The only one I'm debating still is an M5. It's just that I've never done PK magic and I'm wary of buying 1 item for $89

You're headed for the sinbin or an outright ban if you keep up this attitude to magic, mate.

Most probably the ban!

Giving you the benefit of the doubt as you're new around here - go back to the front pages and read the stickies.

This site is here to discuss and to protect the secrets of magic and this means respecting the work of others - including Ellusionist.

We all recommend not buying copies and to buy the proper product as ultimately this then supports more creativity for our art.

Please go away and think about it and whether you want to stay around these boards.

Can someone just tell me or PM me what exactly the M5 is? I know what it does but so far I can only think it's some sort of high powered magnet and I don't want to spend $90 on that so I know it's revealing the whole gimmick, but someone who has it, please! Just tell me what exactly it is!

I don't have an M5 but I have a Bat and a PK ring and they are both good in their own ways for different things.
The PK ring is good for steals, watchstopping and for resetting some coin tricks without detection and I have performed a good coin through bottle routine with it and manged to steal a coin whilst doing it, misdirecting the audience to the bottle. It made doing this effect a lot easier than other methods.

The Bat (similar I think to an M5) is good for changing one coin to another, watch stopping whilst seated and without touching the watch, the spinning rings routine and some more powerful PK stuff.

It really depends what you are planning to use it for. PK ring is not as strong but is more convenient, can be worn all the time (though it makes my fingers puff up sometimes!) and if handled properly is not detectable.
