DAVID BLAINE ABOVE AND BELOW

ok ok what was this programe all about, yes the bits in the box were good and some of the explanations were ok.
saying that he was a close up magician and an endurence artist made sense to me but what was all the cut scenes about none of it made any sense, now I'm not a general blaine basher realy I'm not but his brain must have been realy mucked up if he thinks that this film will pass as entertainment.

no tricks for us mages, strange cut scenes and hero worship letters, i ask why who thought this would appeal, as i am not part of the mtv generation maybey i missed it.

after this film was made / compiled he said that the experience changed him and i belive it will shape his magical style for the better and i hope people will judge his new stuff not this doc which will do nothing to imporove his reputation, what do you all think

Nice post :)

I'm not sure if he showed his humanity, humbleness and real reasons for having this half of his personality or if he was just being very clever and trying to head off media obscurity due to audience non-understanding of his work.
I could feel the audience at home comming round from what!? to awww he's a really brave guy, lol.

It was a very interesting show, not for us though maybe but very interesting. It certainly made me realise how hard it would be for me to endure half that time.
Good editing as well, I didn't think I could find the whole box thing so interesting.
Just one thing I noticed, was it me or did all the English people shown make us look er, well, a bit day release?
Some weird "dancing" people about, lol.

Also interesting to note he again restated all these things are real where as his magic isn't, yet we know different ;)
Be interested to hear what others thought.

Its worth noting that David didnt make the film, so Blaine bashing doesnt come into it.It was put together by his good friend Harmony Korine.
If you look at it, and take it at face values, then yes, it's a very strange piece of film making. However, it captures the odd elements that hung around the box. On my visits i was facinated by the crowd and what they would do.
The inserts with the nude women, and the blood? well, if you look at Blaines publicity, the rumours of what goes on in his private life etc, you will see that they were exagerated versions of what you will read in the press.

No magic, but then, there was no magic in the box stunt, yet another reflection on what he was doing, and what the press were saying..
That's Very clever if you think about it.
