Greetings & Salutations...
For those that have been around a while and of course, anyone new that's taken time to search past threads and articles around TM, it is well known that I'm the old Curmudgeon that grumbles here and there in complaint about the spoilt and oft time arrogant attitudes of young enthusiasts coming into magic and in this case, those that have managed in a day or two's period of time, to make enough obnoxious and generally pointly posts for the sake of getting recognized on the forum and of course, bump themselves up and out of that newbie category. Individuals so blinded by their need to feel important (or express dribble without doing a search of things to see if matters are already addressed) that they are not aware of how this kind of game actually ends up making them look bad vs. good.
I appreciate enthusiasm and the excitement one knows when fresh to this or any field and learning all the new stuff, the gods know I've been in those same shoes a time or two but I too had a handful of older magicians slapping me down and telling me to cool my heels until I actually had learned something and gotten some experience under my belt.
I love the fact that we have these forums for many reasons but for some of you this is how things have always been when such is far from the truth. So do yourselves a favor and gear things down a notch or two; learn how to learn, how to listen and read a bit and stop being overly concerned with getting your face, name and ill-qualified philosophies out there in everyone's face (wait until you have some foundation to it; meat to go with the potatoes, as we say in these parts).
BTW... some boards (I think this one may be such) don't count the number the posts you make but rather the number of quality posts and in some instances, such as having a string of short posts all on the same topic, they are counted as one. So your drive to feel important really is an act in futility... especially in a forum that wants to maintane some sense of quality.
