Hey All,

In alot of the magic demo videos i have noticed the guys using somehting kinda like a mousemat and i was just wondering (as i can't find any reviews) which would be the best to buy to practice some card magic on. Price isn't really a problem but i don't want to pay too much :? Is there any particular make or model that is best for this type of thing or is it just personal preference?

Cheers

Sam :)

They're called close up mats and come i a variety of sizes and colours. Most online magic shops will sell these if you don;t have a local magic shop that you can visit.

There are also a couple of threads on close up mats if you use the search button.

Good luck

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I actually make my own close-up mats.....I get a peice of cardboard, wood, anything firm, and go to a craft store.....you can get felt (in any color) that has a sticker backing to it......you simply cut it to fit the surface you are using. If you want more padding, simply double layer it. I like doing it this way, as I can put it on my lap while watching tv, and practice....it doesn't require me to place it on a table, floor, hard surface.

Just a thought for you

I use an old piece of carpet which works really well. I guess a carpet tile would work well too if you've not got any carpet off cuts, most DIY places will let you have one free as a sample.
