No No No No No.....

This isn't the way to perform it. To get the effect right it's all about control and I won't go into just how on an open forum. Needless to say, to build up the right atmosphere for the effect the movement of the key needs to be MUCH slower and NEVER let it fall over in your hand as it does on the video.

once the key reaches the vertical it should simply lay itself down SLOWLY to give the full effect.

Keep practicing.

Easy dat, I wouldn't be too hard on him.

It wasn't bad, but yeah you should really try and slow it down at the end. The start was good though.

Keep at it.

I wasn't trying to be hard - just helpful so apologies if my post was taken differently than intended.

Anyway - hopefully you'll learn from the comments and PM me if you need some more info on this one.............

I'm afraid I agree with Dat. The idea is to show there's some mysterious force moving the key slowly and deliberately, completely against gravity.

I agree with Tomo and Dat on this one, slower is better( )
Then again, there's no harm in building up to a dramatic (and possibly quick) finish. You really should 'draw it out' more though.

Sorry Jack but respectfully, I just can;t see a quick finish with this effect without ruining it.

Anyway- have a look at the haunted key threat about aging the key. This may be of interest to you as I think many will agree that this adds greatly to the effect as well.

Keep up the practice.

First of all.. Ew! Horrible music!

Anyways, I don't know much about the effect, and this is actually the first time i've ever seen it.

But I found it to be rather boring. You spent too much time checking for strings, and honestly, that led me to believe there is a string of some sort (Although I could be wrong)

There isn't a string :?

Part of the selling of this effect in the specs eyes is the patter and there's no need to show that there isn't any string. When done, allow a spec to simply pick the key from your open palm for immediate inspection.

ok my little pet project here so a few tips that might help most people have a problem with the end, don't we all, patients my son.

firstly hold your hand in that awkward ultra flat position you have it in then let the hand and fingers relax, to start the key moving slightly bend the tips of your fingers inward and concentrate let the internal workings of the key do there job don't force it, think it over it realy works if you give it a try.

most importantly when it begins do move, do nothing, it will complete its jorney all by itself.
think it, feel it, then let it do it for itself, you'll be amased how effortless this little gem can be.

for video demo's i like to get mine out wrapped in a cloth and clean it respectfully showing by design that nothing is attached before the turn then wrap it reverntly back up.

Yeah. Give it time. Let it complete the transit on its own and just wait for people to find their own meaning in it. I've had people back off before now when I hold my hand towards them after it's finished turning over, when I want them to inspect the key. They're really not happy about what's just happened.
