My Stripper is sat gathering dust. I made up some stuff to do with it but would do with some inspiration. Is 101 amazing tricks with a stripper deck (or whatever it's called) worth a punt?

Alternatively, use the stripper as a prop under the leg of a wonky table.

In my experience the 101 books are not that great. I think I have that one and if I remember correctly it is the same ten tricks repeated over and over. Eg - Find the royal flush - Find the four aces - Find their selected card. Nothing that someone with a stripper deck could not come up with themselves in 34 seconds.

I'm also having trouble comming up with anything interesting with my stripper deck. It's sat right at the bottom of my box of magic things at the moment. I might have a look at that book

ok a few well ok then two examples with many outs.

1) i usualy have a force card pre stripped then shuffle and offer to either cut to a card or cut and then they take the top card, sounds realy fair dosn't it.

then you can blain it by saying the top card will reveal the choosen one.
produce a large card silk of there card.
have it apear stuck to the outside of a window.
card to ceiling.
match a jumbo card selected at random cough, cough, by another spec.

2) freely select a card and controll to bottom and put away cards in box

have them note there card down and burn it use paper ashes to reveal card on arm.
reveal it written in on a piece of paper held by another spec.
uncanily turned over in your id.
mentaly projected to you and revealed on a flip chart.
predicted by another randomly selected spec, nlp skills or such deren brown skills needed.

hope that gets the well spring flowing.

Here is another one from my antique collection.

Remember the trick where you held 3 indifferent cards behind 4 aces and then put them in different places in the deck only to wind up on top?

Well if one were to expose this to the no it all crowd and then use the tapers to do the same trick? It would and has floored them .

Just one I have used with success.

Now this one is not mine but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it maybe Tarbell?

Anyhow it starts with a stripper deck and an additional card from a different colored back striper.

The odd colored card would be on the bottom reversed and one would be asked to pick a card and replaced in the deck while it was being cut making sure that the odd card winds up above the spectators selection.

Then the cards would be striped out together and place on the table as a double. The rest of the deck would be shown to be all one color and different then the spectators card would be turned to show that he had picked the only odd card in the pack.

Kind of a brain wave with out Rough and smooth.

A magician using Strippers is a bit like if a pianist is placing a CD-player in his grand piano. I am not a purist, but ideally card magic should be done with a borrowed deck. I use Aronson's stack as well as the 8 king-stack - which would not work with a borrowed deck - however use of a stack is OK provided that at least one other effect (e.g. a triumf rountine) has been performed before the stack is used.

For me any deck switch is quite "expensive" and should be limited and used with care. There is absolute NO reason to use a stripper deck.
