Hey folks, My name is stray and I'm a 30 year old card-magic hobbyist who's been practicing the craft for several years, but not seriously. Recently, I've decided to up the ante and develop a full scale hobby of magic, strangely, because it mirrors my latest redirection of my career aspirations. You see, I've developed a penchant for film production/direction, and have dived directly into those creative crafts. Magic is very similar, in that it is a craft of illusion requiring much hard work and little reward for the practitioner, except, of course, for the reaction you get from your audience. That small reward is priceless, and now my addiction.
As for my future aspirations, I'm more interested in performing in impromptu situations, and not as part of a larger act. I find the most incredible reactions are found when people are not planning on being fooled. Once you've declared yourself as a performer, all eyes are on you, looking for the trick, looking for the gimmick, etc, and the audience expects that they are about to be tricked. In impromptu situations, you can find yourself in everyday situations, where you can perform your magic amongst a completely unsuspecting audience. This is the brand that I desire and I suppose is somewhat akin to the latest street magic trend.
Ah, and it's always a good time to slip a simple trick in the middle of a poker game amongst friends. Typically, it ends my shuffling/dealing chores for the night

(30:ah) I suppose
