"Signed Card" Tricks

Postby Kemo » Dec 8th, '06, 04:19

Other then the ambitious card are there any other "impromptu" tricks where you can get the spectator to sign the card?

There are plenty, you can have the spec sign the card on pretty much any revelation.

Aswell as the tricks where the spectator does sign them, there are quite a few that doesn't mention signing themso go for it. Oviously its no good if you're gonna be card switching

Guy Hollingworth has some amazing and utterly genius ideas for some magic with signed cards in his book Drawing Room Deceptions.

This article makes for interesting reading on this topic: http://www.online-visions.com/tylerwilson/0611sign.html

The Homing Card (Carlyle) and a Card To Wallet routine.

A great one i do is card to shoe. You have to do minimal set up but you can have it setup all day. Plus you can do any trick with the deck of cards and it wont mess with the setup. SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL.

torn and restored is a good one. As said, most tricks can involve the spec signing the card, as long as there are no switches.

There's a very good one in Mark Wilson's book where both you and a spec sign cards, hold them in your hands and they swap places. I can't remember the name of the trick but get great reactions. It does involve a very small set up, but that's easy enough to do in front of the spec.

Here then now with signed cards is an amazing effect.. a spec signs a card and hold it in his palms. You then sign a card.. you hold your signed card over his closed hand.. you dribble on his hand and lick his face.. then the cards change places!!

Possibly the most impactful effect I've done with a signed card is the 'Phoenix' trick from Sankey's Front Row Sankey.

Doesn't seem much, but I've NEVER failed to cause total amazement with it—even to the 'initiated'.

I love the pheonix effect too and use it all the time. The fact that they sign a wrongly prediced card which with the aid of good old flash the signature re appears on the correct card is a knockout for the spectators. Plus the point that Sankey makes, "Do they buy it....totally!!" is sopt on, I've had nothing but great reactions with this. Impromptu too
