talking of camp and such like, even to this day Julian and Sandy from the old radio show Round the Horne still makes me cry with laughter...

I was born in Brum and lived there till I was 3, moved to Shropshire, then moved back to Brum at 16, returning to Shropshire when I was 23... so I guess I pretty much lived my younger years there! And now I'm in Wales, all happily married. All in about a 100 mile radius!

I miss it now—although I have to say the only steadfast thing that gets me back there is Wing Yips and the NEC!

It's a country loyf fer me ;)

edit: see, now you've made me digress AGAIN! My bad habits of dirtying threads has surely knocked me out of the competition in the 'Best TM Member for Keeping Threads Neat, Tidy, Coherent and On-topic' category

I presume anyone who wins one of these awards has to make some sort of acceptance speech... crying is optional but God must be thanked

I read recently that a lot of the comedy at the time of Round The Horne, Beyond Our Ken and similar nudge nudge double entendre shows were as a result of most of the comedians and writers being ex Army conscripts with an 'earthy' sense of humour. The BBC producers at the time were mainly ex Officer Class/Sandhurst upper class chinless wonders who didn't realise what was actually being said or suggested - Julian and Sandy being an excellent example. On one level it's just funny gobbledegook, on a deeper level it's extremely well scripted and richly suggestive comedy, and on an even deeper level it's downright filthy!

absolute filth! very funny still...i

think we could all be up for getting voted "off-topic/hijacking" types if we're not careful...
