This can be presented as magic - but it is mainly manipulation. However, the ideas on how it can be presented as magic is good! For example, in the official trailer, as de'vo sweeps his silk over his hand the ring disappears from his thumb and re-appears on his ring finger - that is what you call magical! and with the false transfers and alike, this can be very magical indeed. I just prefer the manipulation side is all - I do that with cards as well.

and yes, this dvd is well worth the money - I would have paid £50 for this. It is phenominal.

and as for experience needed - you dont need any prior experience, though it would help if your hands are used to "moving about".

I'm not saying it is easy - it is like silver dream - as in hard (yet not impossible) and bloody well worth it. Personally - this is in my top 5 dvds that I have purchased.

I would say if you can do ringthing by Garret Thomas you could do this... but it would take about the same amount of practice to do it properly....

The DVD covers basically one move which is explained on the ringthing dvd.. but not as an effect.. its basically the speed you are doing the move that gives the effect.

Looks great.. but a whole dvd out of it?... nah

I would have to whole-heartedly disagree with you there. This is nothing at all like the ring thing. The only similarities is that it uses a ring. The ring in de'ring is a tight ring - and i can vouch that it is genuinely tight - they can check it out, whereas in the ring thing it is an oversized band ring. In the rign thing there are finger switches - de'ring is all about the manipulation.

de'ring, in my opinion, kicks the ring thing out of the water

lol - well maybe, though I have to say I wont do the full routine - De'vo doesnt want that released uncut because of those who watch it play by play to work it out. Though I will give you a good glimpse of it come jan-feb time if I get it down ;)

I have to say though - watch the ring thing trailer, then watch de'ring trailer - and see which (in your personal opinion) is better - my personal opinion (though I respect that it is not the same as others) is that de'ring is so much better - though that may just be for me. I have two performing styles - magic, and (if they are the heckler kinda people) manipulations, portraying magic as sleight of hand and psychology - not "proper" magic. So for me, de'ring is perfect for my second style - the style that, generally, I enjoy performing more.

I do love this dvd - hell, the music kicks ass!

I recieved this a few days ago. I agree with all the others who bought it, it's really good. I would like to point out the fact that De'vo's face is hidden or censored as always. Ellusionist used the possiblility of his face being shown as a sales gimmick. I think this was indecent of them, no pun intended. Fine, it was intended  . At one point, you get to hear him yell, though.

PS He yells when giving examples of how to avoid having a spectator rip your finger off.

I do like some of his comedy lines when they attempt to pull the ring off ;)

I have this feeling that De'vo is some ugly muppet who takes way too much care of his hands, maybe has a stutter and generally geeky looking.

I know that sounds bad and I dont mean it as such,I think the guy is genious but when you go through so much length to avoid showing your face I mean.. come on

If I were as skilled as De'vo Id be running the streets making sure everyone know.. even if it made me look like a pr**k

I REALLY want this, just a few quick questions.

1 : Is it worth getting from handlordz site for the free forums access?
2 : Will www.magicshop.co.uk be stocking these?
3 : How do I get a signed copy like some people have? (I've registered for the forums but I cant see any topics on how to be getting it signed)

btw - Thanks for the review, it has encouraged me to look into ring manipulations.

have a look in the forums to get recomendations on a ring - but DON'T (I repeat DON'T) buy one until you watch the "things to know" sections on the dvd :)

I wear a normal ring on my right thumb. So will I need to buy a ring with a stone or carvings?
