Haunted Deck (on BIKE) unknown artis, if anyone DOES know who's it is, reply and ill edit this post!!

The Effect

cards are selected, best no more than 3, and are replaced into the deck.. deck is 'shuffled' then the three selected cards, one by one, arre produced 'on their own accord' from the deck, at arms length.

Cost

I paid £4 for it, on bike... but iv seen it for £12??!!!

Difficulty

1- easy to do, and self workin, BUT it needs to be set up... the deck can be spread, but not really handed out...

(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)



Review

I was intreagued (sp) by the thought of this deck, so I had to add it to my already large collection on gimmick decks! first impression was good, noneed to force a card, as its free selection, plus a multitude of cards can be selected, they will still come out one at a time, but its really only good for that one trick... however i did use the ambitious card routine as a warm up on it... got a good repose for the performance, overall though. A magor problem is that you can hand the whole deck out for inspection, however you can fan the cards out (yes there are 52 or them) you can also waterfall them as long as its clean enough so the gimmick is not seen... This deck would be ideal for table hopping...

Overall I give it a 6 out of 10, and thats mostley because of the responce you receive from the trick

I have one of these some where or the other. And I dont like it, Its not that it is a bad effect. The gimick of course is the problem i have you have to be all set up and and its not inspecatable as a last trick I spose it would if you do a deck switch and use a clever enough handling. Maybe i will play around it.

It's relatively straight forward to make haunted deck yourself from an old deck of cards. It may not be as perfectly neat but it is certainly sufficient and since the deck can't be inspected anyway, the audience will never know that it's not as neat.

I ordered one of these from magictricks.co.uk and what arrived, despite the packaging was a rising card deck which only rose one card. The instructions stated "improved rising card deck" so maybe the wrong deck was sent to me despite the label saying it was a haunted one. Drat!
The "gimmick" knackered after a few days and I had to repair it. Good effect but cheaply made and breaks easy.
Give me a normal deck and some nice sleights anyday!!

hmmm... Id ask for a replacement, the one i use can rise multiple cards (i think iv done 6) without any problem, and i HAVE had some extencive use out of mine, without any faults...

THis is one of those decks where there is a time and a place to perform but with the right handling and presentation it can look like real magic to a lay person.

With the correct handling, including a spread of cards and a dribble, there's not really a need to hand the deck out as you can take the heat off the deck, particularly if you can do a deck switch for a normal deck.

It's a great deck for a beginner to use in order to build up confidence.

Iv actually managed to hand this deck out during the perfomant, i got someone to hold the deck by the sides, firmly with the tips of their fingers and thumb. and have their other hand above the deck, not touching it, i positioned my hands either side of hers and the card came out. for anyone already with this gimmick, personally, i dont do as the instructions said, i use my sleeve instead, yes even rolled up... anyway, i did this to produce the last card of three out of the deck... she actually dropped the deck! luckily i grabbed it before it hi the table, i fanned them out, gave them a cut, and packed them away. with decent positioning, and thought, you can get REALLY good reactions from this gimmick... just be prepared for a quick deck swap.

You can get a decent haunted deck effect without a gimmicked deck. Only downside is that you can only reveal one selection. Just card spring the deck so it is all bent downwards and bend the cards above the selection the other way. This way they will naturally separate at the right point if you tilt them slightly. (Just to mention that this isn't the gimmicked haunted deck method. Also I have only mentioned how to get the haunted deck effect without a gimmick. I have deliberately not exposed how to locate the spectators card as this area is not restricted).

This is exactly what I do....I use it as sort of a "okay one last quick one for ya..." type of thing. I get the specs to insert the signed cards that they have with them from the previous series of effects, and go on ....works well that way.

Not something I would carry as a stand alone type of effect......

For a more stand alone version that is inspectable at the end.....I use **** Pm me if you want the answer.....in most threads I would put the abbreviation, but out of respect for the actual version in discussion here, I think that it may tip off the gimick somewhat

It was actually a rising card deck sent to me in error, thankfully magictricks.co.uk sent me a Haunted Deck with no quibbles. Now that's service!
It is a good effect, but a deck switch is necessary afterwards. Easy to use and no one has spotted the gimmick despite how obvious it may feel to you at first.

Hm no need for a deck switch of any sort. How often do you hand out a deck in the first place?

I like the idea of having a spectator hold the deck. Keep in mind if you perform this as it says in the pamphlet, have the spectator sit down so that they can be eye level with the deck.

Think the gimmick would be pretty obvious if anyone got their hands on the deck. I usually put it in my pocket, perform a non-card trick and then get what looks like the same pack of blue Bikes out again.
