Postby joshie-enigma » Dec 24th, '06, 18:19

Hey people,

Right well ive been a follower of magic since i was about 4 and had a magician for my 4th birthday but never really had the idea of actually doing my own magic! Moved to guildford bout 2 years ago and think its about time i learnt something that i can use!

I'm a complete newcomer to magic and have no skills what so ever, was given a levitating card trick from a friend but the trick got to obvious, soim looking at MORE.

Really want to learn, no looking at magic for a career but just a good thing to be able to do (pubs, mates, party tricks etc etc), looking to learn card tricks, sleights, illusions (friend of mine used to be able to hold a card and then make it disapear by flickign hsio wrists IF ANYONE BODY CAND EXPLAIN HOW TO ME...id be bloody gratefull)...most easy to do tricks for now cos as said i know NOTHING.

Just purchased a pack of red bicycle cards which im told are the best to use, but really i just need guidance and leymans instructions of how - to's!

Just like to say that dynamo dude your the man and have your tricks on lock!

So im new, dotn bite me, and feel free to offer guideane and any advice you can if you want to!

add me to msn or email me etc etc...anyway coffee and fag break

Cheers people

Magic is about secrets. We'll point you in the direction of them (books, DVDs, etc.) but we won't simply give you our hard-earned secrets.

Please read the forum rules and guidelines.

Let's start again. The Carl Fulves "Self-working" series of books (you can get them from Amazon for a couple of quid each) are well-suited to beginners looking to get some pub tricks under their belts.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

How do Enigma.! I'm a newbie here too, but if you allow me to give you my two-penneth worth..

This is a great place for reviews and opinions of books, dvds, props etc. before you spend your hard earned cash.

Browse the forum (using the search) for info on where to get started - there are plenty of recommendations. If you are really into to magic reading the threads can be a real treat - but you'll need to be patient - you have to go thru a learning curve before you can even start to understand what people are talking about at times! There is a certain amount of code used to protect the "secrets" - you'll find plenty of well considered argument of why this is so in the forum too.

Don't ask for the details of how a particular "trick" works - you won't get an answer, but you will alienate people - which will be a shame because there is a wealth of wisdom and many lifetimes years worth of experience here..

Enjoy!
