Magic Magazines

Hey all. Hope you had a Merry Christmas.

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. One of my Christmas gifts was a subscription to a magazine. They knew I enjoyed Make magazine, but wasn't sure if I wanted a subscription so they gave me the option of choosing the magazine I would like the subscription to.

I have heard of a couple magic magazines out there, so I thought I'd look into that as an option. What I'm looking for are some reviews/feedback/comparisons of what's out there and what they're like.

I'm looking for a U.S. based publication, or at least a publication that covers U.S. events and shows.

Many thanks in advance,
-Tyler

Thanks for the tip. Is that the only US magazine or just one you like?

Can you tell me anymore about it, or perhaps even review it in the review section? Is it similiar to TalkMagic with a no method/secret philosophy or can I expect to pick up a few new tricks there? Do they do trick reviews or just interviews and the like?

Thanks again,
-Tyler

Phew....

I don't know if it's the only American magazine but it appears to be the only American one that is sold in the UK by the major magic dealers.

There are lots of adverts for products whcih I personally find of interest, as well as a review section (limited to around half a dozen per month) and there is always a few card tricks taught in the back of each monthly edition.

You get some really good profiles of performing magicians as well as a good mix of other content. All in all I enjoy the magazine but then again there isn't a great selection to choose from, whether it's UK based or international based.

Magic is the only magazine that I've read that meets the criteria that you asked for in that it gives a good calendar of both American and international magic events but it is biased towards the US of A.

Order a copy and see what you think of it. That's perhaps the easiest way to find out if it's going to be the right choice for your needs.
