when i do the finger switch there is always a slight "Twang" noise which gives it away, is there a move to counteract this?

Yeh, do it properly :P

When I do it, I pull the band to the left, it makes it easier to do the move for me, and just talk over it ' It cant go this way, this way or this way but...'

Theyre only listening to you, they dont expect the rubber band to talk

NUMS sell packs of bands that are excellent for most elasticated trickery

US Number 19's are suggested as the best type to use and Alliance Gold are the premium brand to try as they are extremely streeeeeeetchy. It's possible to get a different brand of number 19, as well as 18 and 17 if a smaller band is more suitable, from Staples stores in the UK - the usual UK flat band type (as dropped by Postmen all over the Country!) don't seem to work as well as the thinner US ones.

I always use Staples brand of #19 rubber bands. I bought a pound package of them and I'll have enough for a lifetime. I give them away after doing the trick so the spectator can try for themselves. Never had a problem with noise though. You may be releasing the band too soon. Wait until it is touching the other. I've never been caught out at this trick. Follow it up by letting the spectator be your left hand. That really gets them.

I can only guess you are letting go too soon, as hard as I try I can't get a noise, unless I use tiny bands and they hurt :D

Exactly what he said ^^ and u should have no problem.. also if ya using thicker and longer bands.. its WAYYYY harder i suggest using thinner bands.. they make wayy less noise.

A couple of years ago I bought a 1lb box of No19 Alliance Gold Rubber Bands which are ideal for CMH and other band effects such as Pinnacle - I still have most of them! If anyone wants a few to try out, just PM me with your full name and postal address and I'll send some off to you. No charge, no strings attached, no worries, just a freebie :D !

Now I'm using #19 bands, my twang has gone. It makes all the difference.

You're either releasing too hard, or your ring finger is getting in the way. A twang during "the move" could only be produced by one or the other.

If you're releasing too hard, it means you are releasing early. Stop that. Don't be afraid - just keep the attention at the center, all one nice, smooth move...Pull back, go forward. But don't release early. There should be no "hickups" just one, smooth action.

If you're ring finger is getting in the way, then teach it to get out of the way (muscle retention in this effect is everything).

Mike.

If doing this in a walkaround environment then try not to worry, because there will naturally be a lot of noise anyway. Try not to be too perfectionist because, although we have a habbit of being, it's not what we think that really matters.
Remember also to do as Michael Jay says and release at the right time, I used to do it too early and have the same problem. Good luck!
