On another forum, a US member has posted that Channel 4 are restricting downloads from the on demand service to UK IP addresses. That seems somehow a bit daft. I've already seen someone offer to give away copies of the DVD recording they made.

I was lucky enough to take part in the broken glass routine on stage in his Cardiff show. Quite strange it was, when i was told to stand on his head.

The Penn & Teller US Website restricts some aspects to US addresses only - perhaps Channel 4 are just getting revenge! In fact, the BBC website puts similar restrictions on things like 'taster' vids of Dr.Who, Torchwood and so on which they say is for copyright reasons. Sounds reasonable.

sexton. if you mean the little bit i believe you do, i would have left it in too, considering how many people, even people on these forums, utterly fail to mention it in their recountings would fascinate me if i was Derren, i would leave it in the filming just to see how far psychological invisibility can be stretched

I believe we mean the same bit, yes. As it happens, when I was at the Milton Keynes show he did this before the intermission. During the break, while I was standing outside having a cigarette, my girlfriend was talking about it and I asked her to tell me what had happened (and had happened, I might add, only about a few minutes ago). I didn't do this casually, even: I flat out, signalingly, asked her to describe the whole thing to me as if I haven't seen it, and to do so in that Sherlock Holmes, 'Leaving out no detail, no matter how small' fashion.

The bit/s appeared nowhere whatsoever in her account.

Postby Martin_H » Jan 11th, '07, 17:58

has anyone recorded this TV Show and can send me it on DVD ?
I´m here in Vienna, Austria and unfortunately there is no chance to see it...if anyone has it on DVD this would be great...

I´m also very interested in the "old" Paul Daniels magic TV-Shows on DVD ... and other magic TV Show recordings
Can someone help me with that? of course I would pay for material (raw DVD) and postage...
pls send me a private message or an e-mail
would be great!!!
best regards, Martin

Sorry Martin, that would be a breach of UK (and possibly EC!) copyright rules. The Paul Daniels shows are still kept in the BBC archives and even Paul himself can't get copies of them.....

really...?? if I record a film or a show, which was sent on Television, on dvd it is forbidden to give away???
As I understood Paul Daniels can not buy the rights of the shows,
but if someone gives him records of the show on VHS or DVD it is legal, isn´t it?

If it really is a legal problem, maybe someone has the Shows on DVD and can borrow me the DVDs - I will pay the postage, so you will have no costs.

The basic idea is that anyone can record a TV show for their own personal use but as soon as they pass it on to anyone else, even free of charge, or copy it for others they're breaking the law.

Paul's said before now that he's tried to buy the shows but a figure of £10,000 was quoted for such access and there's a lot of political background to all this so it's unlikely that the shows will be on DVD or even shown again on TV for some time, if ever.

The other aspect of this is that on TM we don't allow the trade of DVDs, videos and similar material simply because of the copyright laws - sorry. There are one or two segments of Paul's shows on youtube so you might get one or two bits of Daniels Magic on there.
