Corporate Coins!

Postby ultimatecreate » Jan 3rd, '07, 14:21

Hey all,

Sorted myself with some decent card magic and a few other bits n' bobs but I dont have a strong corporate coin routine that id eventually use to perform at receptions and I need some help.

Im almost certain I want to use American Dollar coins, and would love to finish with the large (HUGE) dollar coin at the end. If you have a better suggestion as to which coins to use speak now...

...or forever hold your peace. I will be performing with a suit though - and most people ive seen perform this climax to a coin routine have baggy trousers and large black pockets. Looking for something on an intermediate level, and am interested in using a shell (simply for ease of use). I also want it to be a kind of 'blow by blow' trick - like an ambitious card routine, incorporating a multitude of 'magical events' if you get my meaning.

Anyone knows of anything let me know! Many thanks!

Alex

P.S. anyone know any cheap places to pick up DOllar coins? id imagine magic dealers would sell them for a lot more then their original worth. Antique dealers or something along those lines??

Don't know much about coin magic but I own Jay sankeys Revolutionary coin magic and there are plenty of routines in there. It's a good dvd.

They usually only have notes rather than coins.

When I needed half dollars I could only get them from a Las Vegas Casino (via a friend!) as the US Banks don't seem to stock them these days.

Im after the full dollar coins...I think.

Half dollars are almost the same size as 10ps whereas dollar coins are nearer the size of £2 coins arnt they? Im in the UK, so any info on where to pick these up would be great.

Cheers

You could fly to America rob the biggest bank over there and come back and start your own business selling the coins

Half dollars are actually slightly bigger than a £2 coin, they are definitely the more commonly used coins. You can usually get them for £1 each from dealers which isn't too bad. Dollar coins are quite a bit bigger, but still usable.
David Roth has some excellent routines on his lectures, although they do seem quite rare.

Hold up hold up. A US half a bit bigger then a UK 1op and a silver doller is about double of a 10p. Half Adoller is the same size give or take as £2 coin but not as thick here is a quick pic of the four coins :

David Stone (yeap him again) has an excelelnt one coin routine on his real secrets dvd wich has a jumbo coin production. Jumbo coins are pricey i think for a nice half doller one i think www.magicshop.co.uk dose one. Hope this helps

Okey doke, placed my order yesterday for 5 shiney half dollar coins (£1 each from magicbox.uk.com!). Also bought SAW (CUPS - couldnt resist). Thanks for the pics Markdini.

If anyone knows of a solid coin routine, please speak up. Apologies to those of you that don't. Really want to avoid having to fork out for a David roth series or something similar to put together one routine. A

Coins

Postby DrTodd » Jan 12th, '07, 08:37

Dear Ultimate Create:

Pleased to see you are getting into coins. I have developed a nice coins across rotuine over the last 20 years. It only uses four coins, no gimmicks, and can be done anytime anywhere.

It has some extra subtleties that really add a convincing count as the coins 'travel' from the left had to the right hand.

There are 3 really strong coin routines on the David stone DVD the DVD that keeps on giving.

One Coin routine wich is a manipulation sequeence

Coins in glass - coins travel from your hand in to a glass

Watch out - A sort of in there hands coins across with a nice ending.
