Who would you like to see at a Convention?

Postby bananafish » Jan 9th, '07, 14:52

Who would you lie to see at a Convention?

The title says it all really. I am in the process of organising next years convention for the Ipswich Magical Society and as last years TM recommendation of Oz Pearlman was such a success last year (along with Mr. Daniels and Roy Davenport obviously) I thought I would ask for ideas for who you would most like to see at a convention.

Personally I would love to see Richard Osterlind or Banachek but I am not convinced that these two would be a huge draw from anyone not into mentalism.

On the day we will have three lecturers, and they can all represent completely different genres of magic (in fact they should do so), but my question to you guys and gals - is who would YOU most like to see lecture (and perform).

Who would make you want to come to a convention?

i suppose someone like Derren Brown, Paul Daniels or probably a Criss Angel or David Blaine would pull in a lot more of a crowd than one's we're more likely to suggest (due to elitism and own personal choice)

personally i'd suggest you get a decent stage contact juggling or object manipulator in, it can be truely magical; but this is, of course, my own personal choice. As for magicians Jason Latimer looks like a good laugh or i would actually like to see Brian Tudor perform something live.
i imagine getting Dynamo in would be a good choice at the moment

Or the TM favourite, Mr Mulhern

I would love to see Greg Wilson, and Lennart Green! And Danny Garcia I like as well (I always tend to be a bit more classical I guess)

Love

Duffie, Sadowitz and Burger.

Perhaps Banachek, but I fear I may find him insufferably pompous, and I would hope he isn't!

Also, out of morbid fascination, I'd love to meet Mark Lewis. But again, I would be fearful—this time that I'd be made to feel 2 inches tall and have any ego or confidence I may have be sucked from me.

I would love to see Lennart Green, Allan Ackerman, Gregory Wilson, Jeff McBride, Micheal Ammar or Chad Long most of whom I meet in previous conventions and would love to meet again. Of danish magicians Joachim Solberg is very interesting (been many times on danish television) though I never watch him lecture I know him from the Danish magical circle where he was an excellent teacher of us new commers.

Magic is slight of mind!

I would personally love to see Eugene Burger or our own Mr. Browning at a convention. It would be wonderful to see or speak to either in person. I'd like to see Banachek as well, although I feel he may both attract and put people off.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

If we are just rattling off who we would love to see then my list is : Jay Sankey, Lance Burton, Penn and Teller, Jerry Sadowitz, Paul Wilson, Roy Walton (even though I see him all the time!) and Guy hollingworth...obviously loads and loads more but it would just get boring to read after a while...
