It's important that when an explanation isn't immediately apparent we don't automatically fill in the gaps with the supernatural.

There's clearly a method involved, though it is a very impressive effect.

Sorry yeah, it is sometimes hard to portray tone when writing things down!! I know it is not supernatural, but i was very impressed with it, i am always a bit dubious of things like this...it would be very easy to get stooges in.

Also i was just thinking, we have all had the spectator who REFUSES to be fooled. How many people would just say ...no it's not the one i was thinking of. I get the feeling that there is some selective editing going on there.

I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't the start of the trick.

In fact, i think i have just worked out how it was done..ha ha

still good though.

It's a very good effect and there is a method that I can think of.

Actually one possible method for the first part (how he get hold of the two names she/he is thinking of) is in 13 steps to mentalism! The method is called the c***** t*** and is often used for an effect called "the burn". That this method might have been used notice what she is holding in her hand - this is a give away. There are other methods for the first part again I am sure some are described in 13 steps. Is not clear from the clip which method he used.
The second part with the random dealing is not hard to work out especially since I am sure there is a text facility on the phone!

Nice presentation in Derren Brown style where the TV medium
as usually is used in a very clever way.

OK, firstly: no, this isn't at all real mentalism

Secondly, almost Ellusionist style, there's lots we're not seeing.

Thirdly, this effect could be done by a layperson with a 5 minute briefing.

It's very clever indeed, but very easily achieved.

Nice link!

Clever idea, I bet we've all come up with subtley different methods but anyway, nice stuff.

Check out Art of Astonishment Book 1 (A Greg Wilson effect in there) for how part of this effect was (most likely) handled. I do think though if the key part is going to be cut out clues shouldn't be left, i.e. the pen the participant is holding. With the reference Soren gave, and the Wilson effect from Art of Astonishment, it's quite easy to determine how things must have happened .

Heheheheh

As I always say, elimiinate the impossible, whatever's left, however improbable is the truth.

Being honest, if someone can't figure this one out, they shouldn't be on this forum! :D

Not too sure about 'sleight of hand', more like 'Slight of mind'.

(and yeah, my spelling is correct in both instances ;))
