Open Sesame!

I'm having real trouble pulling off the Balducci trick (I refuse to call it the David Blaine method ).

What angle should the appreciative audience be at for this to look real?

There are a few videos on the market that go into detail about levitations, I think one is called the self levitation video, you could try them. You could also rewatch the blaine magic specials and see what angle he stands at just before the cut.

I've found the easiest way to work out angles is to have a helper, that way you can do the move and they can gradually move out until they can see how your doing it. That way you know exactly where your limits are. You do need to note that the height of your helper can sometimes have a small effect.

Or, as in determining the audience angles with the Lateral Palm... just imagine an invisible line from your right toe (assuming this is your working foot - if you know what I mean...) through to your left heel. Follow this line THROUGH the two, and imagine a perpendicular line at 90 degrees to it. Your audience should be at this angle. Also, performing this to more than 4 or 5 people is magician suicide!

He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned always seems to be about 12/15 ft away from the specs. And he also seems to find specs with half a braincell between them. Just thought this would help!

I don't do it really but when I have I would say if I am stood in the middle of a clock face facing 12, they need to be stood between the 7 and the 8.

It really is quite amazing how many people ask me to do this just so they can tell me what I have done, lol
