Yes you are correct but i don’t consider their lending the same as mine i consider that to be more towards lending publicly. You really think i would be taken to court for lending my mate a DVD on the weekend to watch???

if you really want to get down to it would i be wrong to say i saw you said somewhere you have backed up that DPB??? i am pretty sure that’s something that is still considered a no no but i could be wrong, but if you were aloud to back up your own collection then i don’t see why they would have a copy protection on it to begin with the only way to back up your DVD/VHS tapes is to break the protection unless its a very old tape

but please can we move on from all this i think we have all had our say would you agree?

Thanks

Sky...

If you READ my post, the whole reason I backed DPB up was so that I didn't ruin the original.

You are really digging yourself into a hole here... your definitions of what you *think* are right are in conflict with not only the law, but ethics too.

I suggest we drop the conversation here, as you are frankly making a bit of a plonker of yourself. Besides anything else, you're ruining a perfectly good forum thread.

It doesn’t matter why you have backed up the original the fact is you have made a copy of it, now what is stopping you from selling that copy to someone to make money out of it, what do we have apart from your word saying you won't sell it on and make money on someone else's work??? this is the whole reason why back up copies are not aloud you have broken the copy protection on that vhs and therefore you have broken the law with copyright infringements so yes i suggest we drop it here because its you who is making yourself look like a fool

Good day to you

Please guys lets just drop this... right or wrong this was a thread about a review of a quality product and for the sake of anyone who wants to purchase this item and wants an opinion about it before spending dollar lets leave it at that.
If you want to continue 'discussing' why not do it privately... Or just agree to disagree.

I didn't really want to reopen this thread but felt it should be left on a positive note for anyone looking to buy it as this really is a fantastic product!

My copy of it arrived yesterday and although I haven't had a chance to watch the whole DVD yet, I am already reeling from the quality and quantity of material on it. This is a tour-de-force, although Mr Brown's skills are currently way out of my humble grasp I'm finding it an incredibly informative, charming and entertaining resource that I am sure I will refer to again and again.

In my opinion this is a rare jewel of magical knowledge and worth every penny of the asking price.

..yup, got mine Monday - i was giggling to myself all the way through it 'cos it's so good...that haunted deck that he does i've already used, and that's a tiny tiny drop in the ocean of material thats on there...

the psychological forces are superb too, if that element has grabbed anyone's imagination - i'd say consider getting Building Blocks by Luke Jermay, and Trance This by Kenton Knepper (amongst others) and Psychological Subtleties by Banachek...but, it is a huge investment in time/money/performance...

anyway - yeah, devil's picture book - i know there's no such thing as perfection, but this is the closest i've seen...

It look's like I may have to get this as I'm a big fan of Derren Brown. I was lucky enough to go see him about 3-4 years ago at The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil.

Has the mighty Derren spilt something on his shirt?!

Also, I'm now strangely drawn to the tranist van over the road...

He's a powerful man...

Again, I feel I've come a bit late to the party on this one, but wanted to throw in my tuppence worth, since everyone else seems to rave about it.

I bought this as a relative beginner in card magic, against the advice of DB (and a good proportion of this forum perhaps) because I was keen to see what was possible. I'd been lumbering through Royal Road, and while it is good, some of the tricks seem a bit ... neuh. Do them for a friend and you're unlikely to raise much more than an eyebrow and a 'yes, very clever, now put them away'.

I would heartily recommend DPB even to beginners, provided they are serious about wanting to learn card magic. DB explains a range of techniques that are tricky, sure, but not impossible. There is no reason why anyone couldn't acquire them with a bit of hard graft. I haven't been tempted to try any of this stuff as yet, but it has certainly given me a bit of momentum to get the basics polished up.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, there is also much to learn about routining, audience-management and creating 'off-beats' in your performance to misdirect the audience. This DVD set has inspired me to want to be really, really good, and is one to watch again and again.

This is something I keep meaning to get...but haven't as of yet. A birthday present, methinks?
