cut & restored £10 notes - is it known by another name?

Postby iMage » Jan 11th, '07, 23:58

Hi. I saw this performed by Paul Zenon on tv and was very impressed by the effect. I'd like to look-up a review but I don't know what names it can be known by and subsequently can't find a review.

The effect is as follows (if my memory serves): Two £10 notes are shown and then held together, back-to-back, by the magician. The magician is then seen to be cutting all the way across the centre of the two notes with scissors before revealing that the notes have both been restored.

Can anyone help me out with the name of this trick? Many thanks.

This trick appears in many books.

One of which is Mark Wilsons Complete Course, where it is called 'Inflation' by Peter Pit.

Hmm, until I get it right practicing this could get quite expensive. I wonder, if I end up with a stack of half-notes can I spend them as fivers?? :?

:)

The trick is indeed an old one, and the best advice to avoid wasting money is to make sure that decent quality items are used.

I think you'll know what I mean!

Money is quite resilient stuff... and practicing with paper etc. just isn't the same. Practicing with Tyvek would be a lot closer.

Intregueing!

The book mentioned sounds interesting. I'll add it to my list to look into, thanks.

Meanwhile, last night whilst ordering Eddie Gibson's Coin Unique and Cigarette Through Coin from a "closing down sale", I also bought this as a stand-alone trick. Perhaps I should've bought the book instead, ah well, live and learn.

I think I'm suffering from a varation of CUPS: ONPS - (Obsessive Necessary Purchase Syndrome) - in the past week both the Modern Coin Magic DVD and the Raven and DVD have landed on my doormat, and now I've gone and ordered some more stuff and still have other items remaining (and being added to) my list!

Incidentally both the MCM DVD and the Raven have blown me away. I've been practicing a few chosen effects quite often - there is now a mirror in permanent position beside my PC Monitor - and am amazing myself regularily. I can't get over how good the moves on the MCM DVD are (despite having only worked through the first DVD), and the Raven empty hand move is so effective I sometimes forget I'm using one!

Apologies for rambling and thanks for moving the post to the appropriate forum.

Mark Wilson's book really is worth looking at, there's enough material in there to last you a very long time.

Given that I can prove I own this book, can someone PM with somewhere I can purchase the good quality thing in question. I avoided such a trick without this knowledge.

It's times like this I wish we still had pound notes.

Defacing money is also an act of Treason so you will all end up in the tower.

Any one intrested in paper money magic should get Huagards money magic book from : www.cards4magic.com

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

It arrived this morning and now I see exactly what you mean :). What a neat little trick! Without giving anything away, the package I received included a very generous number of monopoly-type notes printed on money-type paper that were ready for practice cutting.
