this gave me an idea, which would be good, IF there are enough people to have a laugh and do it...

all these people annoying enough to spill secrets and reveal how tricks are done on places like youtube (i only really use youtube so dont know af any others..) are, as I am sure you should all agree, breaking our code of ethics...

My way of slamming it in their faces, is to do exactly as this gentleman did, and put FAKE tutorials online, flood youtube with bogus trick revelations, and... MAYBE, this will throw people into not believing the 'tutorials' even if noone agrees with me, i think ill still do it for fun!

...and the longer you make the videos the less likely they'll be to waste time looking for others :D

Yeah, I suggested these ideas and a few more a while ago, it's on the youtube petition thread (page 3).

I also think contacting Magic Video Depot, would be a good idea, they have 45,000 members (most of which have youtube accounts). They feel the same way we do. And 45,000 fake tutorial video's would be a very nice addition to youtube's search results.

Anyone here have a good reputation at MagicVideoDepot, with enough influence to get them all making fake tutorial's for youtube?

45,000 fake exposure vids would be great. It would annoy the hell out of people who only use youtube to learn secrets. If only we could do this in wikipedia as well. We'd probably just get banned though.

Some people have already done something similar with wikipedia - another idea I suggested 8) - to only change key words in the pages. Subtle changes so that people don't notice (typical magician mindset) therefore the pages dont get the real info edited back into 'em.

For example on a page about how to do a certain sleight, change ''left thumb'' to ''right little finger'' or something. But keep it small so that no-one notices.
(Don't just fully delete an entire paragraph for example.)

That way, whenever a layperson reads it he gets confused and thinks ''these magicians MUST be clever to understand this''.

On a random and completley irrelevant note, I was reading a wikipedia article on Noel Edmonds and someone had editeded it so it had a subsection called 'death or no death' and it also confirmed the well known fact that Noel is in fact a porn star!

Good idea by the way, though it will never work.

Great idea!
And what about tutorials that mention fake sleights which no one will ever find as they don't exist?
