It's true... I develop databases week in/week out too. But sometimes, it's far easier and more efficient to just buy a ready made solution, which has already been tested and honed with all the stuff you need—and even features you didn't THINK you'd need but will.
The other good reason is you get a manual, helpline and much more with an off the shelf solution—and usually a forum of current users who can answer your problems or requests.
Unfortunately, if you have a bespoke system, the only helpline is your programmer.
