Hello all, just finished a new website, and would appreciate any feedback/constructive critisism. Also check out the videos in the Media Gallery, and let me know what you think.

About what? You have to sell it or no one will buy it.

Tomo: For the moment, we are not selling any of the tricks, the site is simply for people to book shows. There will be a 'magicians corner' coming soon, where you can buy the tricks we have invented.

Best of luck but as this is advertising your enterprise you should really have a word with the Forum Owner about a paid advert using the link below.

It's not valid HTML, it's 100% flash with no "skip" mechanism and it doesn't work on firefox on linux, so I can't enter the site.

Other than that, the Enter botton looks like it needs smoothing/anti-aliasing.

... welcome to the forum

As Marvell says needs a bit of tidying up...

Personally, I don't like having to click on the controls to activate them every time, e.g. your media controls in the gallery

I like the overall theme and design, however you need to think about usability and really sharpening those graphics, keep file sizes small etc. etc. standards of web design and implementation really!

that's my two pence worth anyhow.

oh...and welcome!

Hmmm on the introduction page you have two letters M E that would put me off.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

This is actually quite funny, sorry I couldn't help chuckling. When I mentioned that I could not view any of the vids on NUMS website, mr. Marvell wrote: "As a linux user, I have no problem with wmv and other animals. You just have to find the right viewer and the right codec."

Well, as a Mac user, I have no probelms with viewing this website or the vids there. You just have to find the right platform and the right computers. :D

Anyway, magic-experience!
This is an intoduction forum and it's an insult to the other members not to bother writing anything about youselves here. Though you have a commercial website for your company, you should not leave out the introduction here!

I'm not sure why it doesn't work, but if it needs more than flash 7, it should say so.

Being a software engineer, and not a designer, I am quite happy for content to be presented in rather base ways.

I'm a bit of both of the above, (designer and programmer) and I find the hideously pointless Flash intro page to be a major obstacle for both search engines AND various browsers. A homepage should have AT LEAST and html coded 'skip button, if not a full set of HTML page links to the main site.

Also, using an image map for the main navigation is going to seriously impair certain browsers. Try adding in the footer of each page an HTML set of page links.

With your 'media gallery', I found not so much media as just movies—all of which were ambiguously titled 'Movie xxx'... perhaps naming the movies either literally or creatively would help?

All in all guys, I hope the site does you well and gets you some bookings. But take on board what appear to criticisms and your site will be a lot happier with search engines, and will work much harder for you.

Oh, and Marvell: the site's code (<object> & <embed>) for the intro page suggests Flash 6... but I agree, I just tried using the Flash 9 plugin, which worked fine, but the Flash 6 plugin on our Linux box doesn't want to know. Looks like more bad coding or use of generic HTML embedding for a more recent movie or incompatible format.

Hey all, thanks for your quick response.

I really appreciate you all taking the time to view the site and I am going to try and tackle the problems that were addressed. I will be naming the videos, and putting a no-flash HTML link on the site. Also I like the idea of having links to the page at the bottom as well.

Thanks again to all who have contributed, and any other ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Chris.

Why don't you make the site HTML only and have a flash link :)
