Man, I'm getting really nauseous over all this stereotypical 'girlie' stuff... My wife loves nothing more than me remembering to put the loo seat down or make sure I leave my dirty shoes outside.

As for romance, I think the 'married' definition of romance is not going to bed smelling of alcohol and not rustling the bedclothes after breaking wind.

If I bought her flowers or chocolates, she'd straight away be going through my mobile phone bills to find out who 'she' was.

And if I bought her a teddy bear, she'd probably say 'Don't worry, I'm not pregnant this month...'.

Cynical old fool I may be, but I've never met a woman who is wowed by girlie things. I guess I'm just unlucky in love :(

...a thousand times no....ultimately, it encourages laziness and lack of originality...though...feel free to use the following as some kind of patter of a linking rings kinda schtick...its what i did as a young'un...

i must admit, when i was a young whippersnapper, i proposed to my then girlfriend (i was 17, she was 21), who i was living with - around that time, not the 14th...it was late the night before...i found and bought a proper russian wedding ring...

the real ones (or in this case, a replica "real" one  ) were 3 seperate bands that would lock together if the "Puzzle" was solved to join them all up into a solid band...so i said to her once she could join them up, i'd propose...so she stayed up all night til she fixed it, and even woke me up to show me...

ah, but the flush of youthful love rarely runs smoothly or for eternity however intensely its first felt....as we slowly unravelled, as did the ring...

there you go, true story from my murky past, but might have some uses for a routine? sankey's linking rings, or maybe track down two replica russian wedding rings on the cheap?

I'm not a materialist, honest

If I ever got more than one of the things on that list I'd be lucky, still I can dream, right?

He even keeps a spare valentines card hidden in the back of a drawer in case he forgets (he thinks I don't know about that)

I've had another idea for a trick. I lock a ring or somthing of one of the couple's into a combination padlock and tell them the lock can only be opened by true love. They each cut a random number of cards from a deck, to make 4 piles. The top card from each pile is turned over and the values uses as the combination. And suprise, suprise the padlock opens.
