The Twenty-Second Word.

Postby Jing » Jan 12th, '04, 22:02

Greetings, fellow conjurors,

Yes I know that is a strange and peculiar title, but may I refer you to The art of Card Manipulation, By Jeff McBride. Volume 2, and the Twenty-Second word on the back cover - PRESTIDIGITATION. Anyway, neither I nor, my friends could possibly fathom out what this strange and peculiar word could mean, or even how we even pronounce this strange and peculiar Twenty-Second word. So I ask, nay plead, for your help, I know many delightfully, strange and peculiar words, - Spurious, Plumbism, Dicotyldons, Exocytosis, Anthropmorphism, Antinomianism, Legerdemain, Nefarious, Hippomonstrosesquipedolophobia, and Anti-Disestablishmentarianism, and Many more... But PRESTIDIGITATION still draws a resounding blank in my mind. Of all the words in my vocabulary, this is not one. So my question is...
What does PRESTIDIGITATION mean?
and How is PRESTIDIGITATION prounced phonetically?

Thank You, all Kindly... In advance,
Yours, One Word Short Of A Whole Dictionary-
Edward.

jing.

press-da-digit-tation.

by my understanding it means the manipulation of an object with the fingers or in parlance terms the manipulation of a coin or coins in the sequence of the misers dream.

Interesting you should say that, I was thinking about using my TT and some blood from the old bloke down the road, no I mean joke shop and doing a blood from a stone thing.
Somebody said the phrase to me yesterday and it got me thinking, normal stone, squeeze and pour it through your fingers, maybe only on halloween though.

Like it a lot...

I'm thinking on the lines of speccy selects a card - any card... They hold it close to their chest. You take a card, any card, and tear it in half. Speccy looks at their card - down the face is a drawn-ontear - just like on your card - with drawn-on blood dribbling from the rip...

But your's sounds very cool indeed... same title/theme, different media... cool!
