Anyone care to do a quick review of this effect?

Effect: A deck of playing cards is shown on both sides, and a spectator is asked to think of any card shown (no force). The magician takes a pen, and draws a hole on the back of the deck. He then peels off this hole, and tosses it into the deck. The spectator reveals his card, and it is shown to be the only card in the deck with a hole. This is a cute effect that genneraly looks good, with the exception of "peeling off the hole". It's rather obvious what's happenening there. All in all though, a good trick for thoose who do close up card magic.

Is the trick examinable at the end because im thinking of buying it. Thanks,

The Effect

Acme Portable Hole

The performer shows a deck of cards to a volunteer. The spectator is asked to think of one of the cards.

The performer draws a black "portable hole" on the black of a playing card using a marker pen. The magician suddenly peels off the hole and "throws" it into the deck, which he is riffling.

The performer asks the spectator to name the card. The magician searches through the deck and there is the named card with a largish (about the size of an old 10p piece) hole cut right through it.

The card may be handed to the spectator. The rest of the deck can be shown and look, no holes can be seen in the backs of any of the other cards. Only the spectator's choice is perforated.

I'd put it at a 2, I think. There's one slightly tricky bit (and only slightly).

Review

Very good overall. It's an unusual trick, with a memorable revelation. The "portable hole" bit is clever, although not absolutely necessary to the working of the effect. You could come up with another explanation for how the hole gets into the chosen card. The original idea might be a little too cartoony for your tastes, but it's quite a silly ending anyway.

The card itself may be handed out, but not the rest of the deck (as this was specifically asked).

It would reset fairly quickly.

Overall

It's a nice effect, but maybe not a total jaw-dropper. I'd say 9/10.

sounds like a neat trick. i dunno if you can answer this but is it a kinda brainwave deck sort of thing? because that would explain alot. May go well with cardtoon? what do you guys think? too many gimmicked looking decks?

There is a sort of Brainwavesque feeling to part of the handling indeed, in fact the aardvarks have been thouroughly lemoned.

Not sure there would be too much of a problem doing it with cardtoon as you have to get another deck out whatever you do when you use that, the only problem would be wether it feels right. I personally wouldn't use them both in one set.
