Pink and Fluffy Magic

Postby Lady of Mystery » Jan 24th, '07, 18:17

I'd just like to put an idea out to everyone that I'm playing around with.

I'm thinking of putting together a 'Pink and Fluffy Magic' booklet to raise money for Children in Need, NSPCC or something similar.

I'm going to include all sorts of pink and fluffy tricks in it. Anything cutesie, lovey dovey or with a general feel good factor.

I was just wondering what other people think of this and wether it's got legs?

Also if anyone's got any tricks that they would like me to include, I'd be more than happy to, PM me if you have.

Thanks folks :D

It's worth a try, original or public domain stuff should be OK to collate and publish. Card tricks using the Hearts suit would be one possibility - I'll see what comes to mind  !

As its for charity i don't doubt that you'd probably get permission to include a few tricks from various people. As long as permission is granted than i don't see whay not. Good luck to you.

you might want to pop an e-mail along to the charming Carl from magictricks.co.uk - he's a very busy but friendly chap, and he did something similar a couple of years ago if i remember rightly...

he might be able to give you some pointers...and i reckon you could chance your arm with contacting the magic circle's PR side too...

just an idea... NSPCC would be my vote...not that you are voting..

How about some sort of Napkin Rose
I know Michael Mode has done the DVD of this but he
freely admits this is a very old waiter / bar tender trick
If you are a little wary of using this idea consider emailing
him and offering to put his website in so people could order
his specially printed napkins ( now in 5 colours I think )
As these really improve the presentation and final look.
I'm sure he would be happy to get free publicity in an untapped
market he might even let you use some of his routines.
The d'lite finish is a killer ( I use it at birthday partys to make a birthday wish )

If you need any more info Pm me
And good luck with the book
Andy

Thanks, the napkin rose is a great idea. It should be ok to include as it's been around for years, I learnt how to make one when I was at school. I'm sure I could think up a few tricks with them too.

Perhaps something using suitable patter about love at first sight with two sticks (and paddle moves!) held wide apart to show two blank sides but as they're brought closer, one heart appears on a stick and to show that the other stick returns the affection, a heart appears on that one as well? Perhaps further moves could be if the sticks are changed end for end and waved about again to show two or more hearts on each side? It could be easy enough for the reader to make the props at home.

Just don't call it 'Sticky Love' as that will give totally the wrong impression  !

if you could get some pink sponge balls then that would be an obvious link...even if its showing a red and a white sponge ball being mixed in your hand into a pink 'un...

I've been thinking along the sponge ball line, maybe something like transforming a sponge ball into a sponge heart.

I visited my favourite High Street magic shop today - The Works!

They're selling artificial roses, which have the usual green plastic stem and leaves but the petals are made out of red feathers which gives them a nice warm and fluffy almost sensual feel. £1 each or 6 for £5.

My boyfriend loves the Works, he found a really nice book of Shakespear in there RRP £80 for about £20. Gave it to my mum for xmas and he insisted on leaving the RRP price on there

Some brilliant ideas for tricks guys, I've got loads of ideas going around my head now. Thanks all but keep them comming
