And why?

Ive yet to try any of the Maverick or Aviators yet.

My persona faves so far are Tally Ho Vipers and regular Bikes.

Bikes...Red, Blue, and Black......because I like the feel of them, the durability is alright (find Tallys better for durability), and the ease at which I can get gaff cards to match, as well as gaff decks (I do switch out for gaffed decks on occasion), and the price is right....I have found them in bulk for about $1.25 canadian a deck

Overall I find that the back design is very "Traditional" in that many people have seen it, and many magicians use it, so it looks very "Classy" in my eyes.

As far as colour of the back goes, I use a regular deck that matches the colour of the gaffs I intend to use in my routine that night.....

Is long as they're poker size then I don't really care.

I tend to buy Bikes mainly as they're more widely available and tend to cost less. I'm still working my way through the 50 decks of Bikes that I got from a Pound store last year at 37p per deck!

I've always loved Red Bikes but I got to try Tally Ho's once and I was amazed, I've yet to find those cards where I live in Canada and If I was going to buy them I would prefer to buy them in bulk...Other than that Copag's are an excellent brand of card, they are machine washable and last a lifetime, they are commonly used in majour poker tournaments.

Anyone know if the Tally Ho standard Fan and Circel backs are the same finish as the Vipers?

the tallys dont feel the same as vipers in my hands...

fourniers...by a country mile...best back-design...and more importantly, favoured by Lennart Green...

though i have gone back to bikes purely for convinience of late...

For my own cards, Red Bikes. For a borrowed deck, any poker sized deck with cards that don't stick together.

I use bikes, mainly because gaffs are dead easy to get hold of in bike backs.

I like and have stuck with bikes as it's easy to get gaffed cards/decks which you can switch over.
I have found with bikes, that after a few weeks usage (I mean using it for practising effects, flourishes, etc) they tend to lose their nice feel and become slippery, particularly when running cards. I find you have to use a harder grip.
Not tried Aviator or Tally-Ho's but planning to get some packs to see how they handle.

As long as it is the standard size, i like to use it. Wad i think is that better practice using any kind of deck, so when your friends suddenly ask u to do tricks, you can perform better. Anyway, my favourite deck is Aladin brand deck. lol...bought it from a 24-hour shop.
