Electric Touch

Postby nhmagicman » Jan 29th, '07, 20:31

Just bought and set up etc and shocked the life out of me even at low!?! Now i figure this is gonna take some getting used to, but is it possible to weaken the shock, or is it a case of getting used to it?

Also, how do you keep it on so it doesn't slip when walking normally? I find myself walking around like i have a funny leg :) Id this another case of i'll get used to it?

Apologies if these are silly questions......

Nick

I'm not in a position to answer your questions, as i don't actually have the trick. All that i know is that people who have it have posted in alot of thread on the subject which are all quite useful

Once you have the gimmick securely fastened you should find it shouldn't come loose as long as you leave some slack (dont want to expose so am being a tad vague, sorry).
Also I only prep for electric touch when at the venue I will be using it at and then remove it when leaving.
If this is no help PM me and I will try to help if I can

Thanks for that....

I was just thinking about impromptu street work like in Yigal's demo. I just found the muscles in my leg make it slip too much when i walk.... (hopefully not giving anything away there)

But good thinking.... prep v last minute is prob best.

My advice is be VERY careful with it! It is a highly breakable item...

When I put it, I put it in a rather tight fashion so while I walk it would move into the perfect position and stay that way, it needs a bit of getting used to but it's better if it's a bit tight then if it's too lose and you will feel all the time like it is going to fall off..

About the intensity of the shock, I had the same problem and I don't know if it's a thing of getting used to because I didn't really gave it a chance^^
If I want to shock someone for a reason in a show I use an object to transfer it, or an other person, that way they get the shock and not me (yes I know it's evil, but it's also super clean because it's not you giving the shock it's them).
If you still want to shock people with your body try a different body part, the fingertips are very sensitive so what you feel in your finger would be reduced by 50% or so if the shock is from your shoulder for example.
You can train yourself for getting the shock by touching objects while the gimmick in working, the shock you get from objects is milder then the one you get from people, so you can start by training on that and then moving to people. Don't over do the shocking on yourself when you practice, I found that after 5-6 good shocks I'm getting a bit drowsy and dazed, and I found this to appear also on people that I shocked (I did a routine in which I "hypnotized" a person to think one object is dangerous and one isn't and that showed by the fact he got a shock from the dangerous object and from the other he didn't, in that routine he got 3 direct shocks, and I saw that about an hour after the effect he was rather confused and had a hard time to concentrate on things, people thought it was because he was "hypnotized" earlier but I know the real reason, and it scared me a little, so now I only do two shocks when I perform this and make sure the person gets a good glass of water afterwards).

I presume that you are setting the ET to high when you are using it as I find the shock isn't that intense even when in perfect conditions on the lower setting.
Dont make the mistake I did though where I reached through some metal railings to shock someone and went too near the metal and got lit up like a christmas tree. It was a basement club and several people saw the arcs of electricity shooting from my arm.....it hurt....alot.

Nop, I use it on low all the time
Actually it makes a weird "clicking" electric discharging noise when it's on high for some reason, and I asked about it here a while a go and didn't get a respond so I guess it's just my ET that does that... :?

Jordan you are a very perceptive chap....

Be especially careful with the thin metal connector, as it can come under alot of strain... (I hope that makes sense to those who have purchased the item)...

Oooh about the clicking noise, before I broke it mine whined but didn't click.
