Hi. I think i've just invented a new card trick but i want to make sure no-one else has done it first before i claim it as my own. I would hate to offend someone if they thought i had stole their trick. Basically the effect is :-
Spectator takes a card and places it face up in the deck
Magician chooses their own card and shows the spectator and places it in a box.
After a long patter about always gettin confused and muddled up the magician reveals that the spectators card is infact the one in the box and the magicians is the one face up in the deck.

Does anybody recognise this or has seen it before?

never heard of it. so maybe you have.
but... i think if their card was signed...it would be better. or...if a card was already in the box type thing...like "wild card"

ah cool, the card can be signed, ripped, spat on as however the spectator desires.
