As many of you know, i won the Indecent contest. I got a Black Ghost, Masters deck, and a visit from WH himself. Well, on 17th January i met him. Ive been asked so many times about how the day was that i thought i'd post a detailed thread for all you that want to know how it went! I actually posted this at the E forums first, but i've had to change it a bit. So here goes.
I was due to meet Wayne at 14.30 at my house. 14.30 arrives, and a white stretch limo rolls up my road. The driver got out and walked to the back door. I threw my new Vintage Deck on the sofa, and kind of jogged to the front door, and nearly knocked myself out on the top of the door frame! I completely forgot that im 6'8 for a second and was whincing in pain whilst Wayne was getting out of the limo! I was a bit out of it for the first few minutes after meeting him.
I opened the door, trying to hide the fact that i had a splitting headache, shook hands with Wayne and his fiance, Fran. Fran had a video camera and was filming as i opened the door. We later had to reshoot that bit because she hadnt taken the lense cap off....
We walked into the living room and the first thing Wayne said was 'Wow, you have the new Series 1800 deck!'. He started playing with them while i got some drinks. We sat there for half an hour or so talking about almost everything but magic! I mentioned that my parents have just bought a pub, and he seemed very impressed and saying that i should perform magic there because thats how he really started performing properly! 'Its the best practice because people are drinking and if you do something wrong they will tell you, and maybe not remember!' i think he said.
After a few photos and reshooting the entrance bit, we got into the limo and went for a drive around. We poured some champagne, and then we started on the magic! More precisely, Waynes new upcoming releases! Yes, i got a sneak preview. Its huge! Thats all im going to say about that!
After that, Wayne felt very car sick! He said that he never gets car sick! So we head back to his hotel and have a drink while he sorted himself out.
We headed back to my house where i got changed for the evening meal. Wayne met my parents, sister and sisters boyfriend. We picked out a nice restaurant and tried calling them on the way to pick up my friend who came with us. They were either closed or just ignorant and not answering the phone!
Anyway, we picked up my mate (who indirectly introduced me to magic!) and went to this nice Italian restaurant in Wolverhampton. We had Calamare, pizza and mozzarella salad just for the starter! The food was fantastic! Even the limo driver joined us, which was a nice gesture on Wayne's part, seeing as he paid for the whole thing. We talked about everything. Even the driver was talking about magic! Although earlier on in the night he had thought that Wayne was a rock star! He was a funny guy.
We later dropped my mate off and went back to my house. I enjoyed talking to Wayne about how he got into magic and various parts of it and his opinions. Also, he had a lot to say on the psychology behind magic and in normal life, which i found very interesting. It has inspired me to start reading about it. He also spoke highly of Derren Browns books.
We got back to my house and we discussed Indecent. Being as i knew it quite well anyway, there were just a few tips that he gave me. He then signed a few cards, including my Black Ghost Ace of Spades. He also gave me a few other things too: Masters deck, Vintage deck, Black Ghost deck, and an Ellusionist cap.
He left and my mind was going crazy going over everything that we had talked about. There was so much to remember, but it was one of the best days ever. I will remember it forever. And it has also encouraged me to keep going with magic, i know im never going to quit now. I couldnt possibly do that!
Well, thats about it. Hope you enjoyed reading it! Here are a couple of photos, but because i dont have many (Theyre all on Waynes camera), you may have to wait for the good ones!
I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...
