The roughing on my ID is too strong - does anyone know how to loosen it up ?

I haven't had this problem....but the roughing will thin over time/use so break it in while watching TV by simply fanning/spreading from hand to hand

Rub the cards on a flat, clean sheet of copier paper *GENTLY*

Yeah...

Copier paper is rough. Laser printer paper or inkjet paper has a smooth coating which defeats the object, whereas copier paper is known as 'bond' paper, and is just enough to sort it out.

The fact is, there's too much RS on the cards, and using copier paper effectively sands/flattens the surface.

Flat : Copier : Bond : Clean

They're your keywords here ;)
