Alright There!

Hey, I'm a wee bit nervous about posting here as I'm a new comer.

I'm Wills from Northern Ireland and I've been reading the forums for a couple of months now and decided to join in. I starting do a couple of tricks about six months ago and really surprised myself how much fun I've been having just sitting in my living room playing with a deck of cards and learning new tricks.

I'm really enjoying card manipulation, sleights etc at the minute but am no where near ready to show anyone yet. But hey practice and patience makes perfect.

Hi and welcome to TM by the way 8)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Welcome Wills! I am in the same stage as you in learning card manipulation. I'm not ready to perform even to my wife and daughter. Practice, practice, practice. Even when I sit at work reading something that doesn't need my full attention, I take a deck of cards and perfect some sleight of hands I know, just to get used to the movements and get them right. Ditto when watching tv or any other "dead" moment.

Hi Wills, welcome to TM. Card magic can be great fun, most of my routines are card based.

Thanks people for the niceties.

I know what you mean Lady of Mystery I love the way card tricks are more impromptu than others, providing I have a deck of cards I can do a lot of tricks.

I've dabbled in other areas but can find them hard to do in everyday situations. I got annoyed with my M5 sticking to everything when I brought it out. One night in a bar my mates were asking me why I was walking about with my keys stuck to the outside of my pocket. :?

I found it best to perform a few self working tricks, or tricks with very little sleights at first. Even with the self workers I was fumbling around nervously at first, but this got me past my performing nerves, and once you're performing the trick without thinking you then have time to notice the offbeats, and you start thinking things like "hey I could have switched a deck there and no one would have noticed"

I always laugh when people say top of the morning to me cos I'm Irish, I've never said that in my life. But thanks anyway Gunnarkr.

I was reading another thread when you said about how dear Iceland is. I was in Denmark in October for the football and got to experience how dear them Scandinavian countries are. I nearly fell of my chair when I got charged 28 quid for 3 drinks.
