Stigmata Effect

Postby themagicwand » Feb 8th, '07, 17:27

Am working on a stigmata style effect whereby my hands produce blood in a classic stigmata style. An easy enough illusion to pull off I reckon, but what I'd like to be able to purchase is small pockets or bags of false blood that I can squeeze in my fist and burst thereby releasing the blood which will drip out through my fingers. Does anyone make small bags of blood? Preferably skin coloured (the bag that is, not the blood!), though not essential.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Joke shops used to sell small capsules of blood, about the size of a Cold Relief Capsule. The idea was to crunch one between the teeth as and when required. Other than that, how about a bottle of the stuff from the joke/Theatrical shops and decant small amounts into in little poly bags using heat to seal them leak tight?

you can make your own with some of harrys stage blood and some plastic bags. if you get those two things i can tell you how to make them into capsules. I have used the technique for saw and some other effects.

just noticed mandrake mentioned a similar way. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. Sadly I don't have any way of heat sealing plastic bags, but will pop into the theatrical supply shop and have a chat with them. I'm sure they'll have an idea or two.

Cheers again! :D

Clamp the bag in large bulldog clip with the 'blood' inside the clip and the surplus plastic poking out, then run the flame from a cigarette lighter/gas cooker low flame along the open end so it seals against the metal jaws of the clip. You can make sure the bag is seald by flattening it with a wooden stick - the sort which are usually freely available from McDonalds to stir your coffee!

I'm sure there is a type of fake blood where when two diferent liquids come in contact they turn red and bloody. The idea being that you would put both on different parts of you hand and then bring them into contact to get the blood...

...couldnt find it but it definately exists.
