music for sponge ball routine

Postby Lady of Mystery » Feb 8th, '07, 16:12

I'm putting together a silent sponge ball routine and am on the hunt for a good backing track. I'm looking for a decent funky jazz type track to go with it. At the moment, I've got a couple of madness tracks (nutty theme and one step beyond in italian) that fit quite nicely. But not really being much of a jazz buff I was wondering if anyone knows anything else that would work?

Thanks

Think Punk/Ska like Less than jake....

thanks Marky boy, it's a standup routine. My brother's into Cuban Ska so I might have to pop around there and raid his record collection to see what I can find there.

I might have to hold you to that.

I'm having loads of fun with it at the moment. I've had a set of sponge balls kicking around in my drawer for ages but never really done anything with them. Always concentrated on coins and cards before. I've now discovered sponges and ropes so am busy putting routines together for them.

What about that strange organ music they used to advertise Guinness with?

"All I know is that there are three sorts of jazz: cool jazz, hot jazz, and what-time-does-the-tune-start jazz." - Mrs Swinbourne, "The Beiderbecke Affair"

Mmmm. A young Barbara Flynn.

It's definitely Guaglione. Brilliant piece of instrumental there.

I heard 'Swamp Thing' by the Grid the other day - it's a dance track, not really your run of the mill beaty club piece - much more fun than that. Find it on iTunes or somewhere online and give it a prelisten.

Novelty dance tracks like that normally lend themselves to routines. You'll find that the audience will clap along almost automatically!

thanks for the suggestions everyone. I found a track of Madness performing Swan Lake. Fits in beautifully.
