The thing about ACR is that it uses several different techniques in quick succession and most peoples way of doing it is slightly different.
Just as a spec might think they are onto what you are doing, you invariably switch method which throws them off the scent, and then switch again which dumfounds them. "do it again!", then yet another method and they are left reeling from the signed card hanging out of your mouth.
I have to say though, that if it's card magic, I do still prefer my own take on design for laughter. I get more mileage from it and it's a great laugh to perform.

As for coins, as soon as I have finally perfected it, it has to be hooser's chinese coin routine.

Until then, I shall continue to swallow balloons until my insides go numb.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

my favourite at the moment is my own adaptation of the sorcerers apprentice.

Don't know why I like it. I just do.

Although every mag seems to perform the ambitious card, I've never had any spec say to me that they've seen it before and it always goes down very well.

Whilst there are many magicians about, not all of them go out and perform to the public and instead, just perform to friends and family. It's also surprising how many lay people you come across that haven't seen a close up magician perform before.

Does anyone else who performs find this the case?

This is funny because I recently found out that there were only 2 full time workers at the club meeting I attended recently. 2 out of about 30 people.

To watch:

Penn and Teller's Magic Bullets
Teller's "Shadows" :!: Great trick
Teller's "Needles"
A bunch of Derren Brown stuff

To do:

Psychophysiological thought reading (impromptu, and way powerful)
A normal deck variation of Derren Brown's "Extreme Mental Effort"
Coinupthenose (Classic)
A huge mutant freak routine including Apollo Robbin's "Recap", a couple other things with pens along the lines of "Recap" and Paul Harris's Reality Twister

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking
